Wouldn’t bother coming back. Went here in the past week to treat my girlfriend for our one-year anniversary. Booked the reservation in advance, and explained what the special occasion was. They asked for any “special requests” and I provided a very simple one. The night of, it was clear that the sever had no clue why we were there at all so it was pointless to provide any of that information in advance because they never bothered to read it or do anything with it. Food was just “meh” for the price. Can’t help but feel that we would’ve had a better experience and food that was also less expensive elsewhere. Left feeling disappointed overall, enough to where I wouldn’t bother coming back to give it a second chance.

We had a great time. The food was great. The bartender made good drinks and the chef makes a great bread pudding. Will be returning soon.

We didn’t realize there was new ownership but caught on pretty quickly. I think the being charged for sparkling water was the first red flag. I would have ave ordered it regardless, it was just complimentary before. Service was nice but not great. We had dinner at 6pm and the ladies restrooms were already out of all rolls of toilet paper. Entrees were just ok, not for the price that it is, maybe we just picked the wrong things. So sad because we LOVED coming here before, it was hands down my favorite restaurant in San Jose. We’ll try again in a few months

Under the new management, this is no longer the BSB that it used to be across all areas of quality: food, service, ambience, etc.

The service was very slow. Our server seemed to have too many tables assigned and took quite a while to return to us. She was pleasant and apologetic but sitting for 30 minutes between a small appetizer and getting our main dishes was excessive. Once the food arrived it was good and had not been sitting around waiting for the server to get it, but the wait was very annoying. We had a 6:15 reservation and one appetizer and 2 entrees took almost 2 hours to serve.

Now under new ownership, Black Sheep is a shadow of its former self. The food is still solid, although some of the interesting dishes have been removed from the menu. However, the service is very poor now. The wait staff is unprofessional and simply not knowledgeable about the recipes or fine dining in general. Furthermore, the kitchen has no idea how to time dishes. Half our food came out cold and half came out piping hot. Overall, it's sad to see how far Black Sheep has fallen. For these prices it's unacceptable and I won't be returning.

It a neighborhood restaurant that we enjoy going to. Everyone is so nice and knowledgeable. Price is reasonable.

We did have a nice time at BSB, but felt that the quality wasn't quite as high as it has been in the past. My duck was fairly chewy, and the focaccia saltier than I would prefer. My cocktail was not anything I'd order again. My husband said his fish was slightly "meh". So I think maybe the new people working there could up their game a bit. We'll return at some point, but it might not continue to be our go-to for celebrations, which is what it used to be.
