The Black River Tavern, a unique, casual restaurant and bar situated on the picturesque Valley of the Eagles Golf Club, featuring handcrafted walnut tables made with repurposed timber and natural stonework locally quarried.

Overall, very enjoyable. Good variety of choices on the menu. I took 1 star away, as despite having a reservation, we were not seated in the main dining room; we were seated alone in the banquet room, which was ok, but a bit out of place, lacking atmosphere. It got disruptive when someone started playing video golf and WHACKING the golf balls into a nearby projection screen. Needless to say we left soon thereafter.

An enjoyable evening with delicious dishes, warm and attentive service and lovely surroundings. Mia and Rob made our experience very special. We'll be back soon!

Yeah, overall, Black River Tavern has been a solid food choice for us over the years. Service is stellar with friendly staff and a friendly general manager. We never leave hungry. Our only gripe was the online menu did not match the menu at the restaurant and that was one of the reasons why we came to the restaurant on any given day. We really enjoyed the homemade potato chips with cheese and bacon. The boys really like their fried chicken sandwiches.

We have visited several times this year and were pleased with our experience so we invited friends to dinner. This time was embarrassing and disappointing to treat friends to such a bad meal. One ordered salmon….several minutes later was told no salmon. Had to make another choice with no menu. Pizza pictures online look amazing…it was worse than a $5.00 frozen pizza. The brussel sprouts were the only thing that was any good. Such a beautiful place….I hope they will consider slimming down the menu to include only the meals they can prepare that people will enjoy.

Beautiful location however service was lacking, and the food was not fresh. The fried fish appeared to be from a box, steak was cold. Dirty dishes were not cleared, and drinks not replenished. The atmosphere was relaxing and beautiful, but it unfortunately went downhill from there.

We had a wonderful experience. This was our 1st time at this restaurant. We were celebrating our 44th anniversary. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Also the food was very good! We will definitely be back.

We made a reservation on OpenTable because we were visiting the area for an event and wanted to grab a nice lunch beforehand. The menu looked absolutely fantastic but we left almost two hours later very unimpressed. Our server seemed distracted at best and spent as little time at our table as possible. The lobster tots were the appetizer we were looking forward to most and sadly the Boursin cheese sauce seriously lacked in flavor. They came out lukewarm and the meatball appetizer was downright cold. The stuffed mushrooms arrived a few moments later (hot thankfully) and were our favorite! We each got an entree for four total and two of the four were cold again, specifically the ravioli. I'm not sure if it was made first and sat in the pass to die while waiting on everything else but that would be my assumption. The steak was overcooked but still tender, we just wished the fries were hot. The short rib dinner tasted nothing like coffee but the mashed potatoes were fantastic. Our favorite entree was definitely the buffalo chicken mac and cheese. I'm not sure if there was an event or something else going on that we did not see, (there were only a handful of tables seated) but food getting out while still hot is definitely an issue that needs to be addressed. We expected better.

I will never return to this restaurant. We went for brunch. The food took a long time to come out, but when it did, the bacon was dehydrated and in a ball, the food was cold and it looked like a kindergartner had cooked it. They did bring out more bacon and gave us 50%off our bill. They didn’t mess up the mimosa. I should also mention that the restaurant was pretty empty, so there is no excuse that the kitchen was overwhelmed. The waitress was very nice, that is the only good thing I can say.
