The Black Pearl, located in the heart of the city's bustling waterfront on Bannister's Wharf, is one of Newport's best-known and best-loved restaurants. From the warm ambiance and classic cuisine of our Commodore's Room and Tavern to the al-fresco charm of our Waterside Patio, the Black Pearl has something to offer everyone. Enjoy our clam chowder, raw bar, steamed lobster, sandwiches (including burgers, corned beef reuben, salmon, and swordfish), locally caught seafood, and more.

Hours: Open 7 days a week at 11am for Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner.
Reservations: Limited. No reservations will be accepted through the Summer Season.
Dress Code: Casual. Men are required to wear sleeves.

Excellent service! Clam chowder was hands down the best I have ever had! Clams casino was small but delicious! Lobster roll was good but some celery would have really added to its deliciousness! We will be back!

Black Pearl never disappoints (as long as you can get in..ha). Real Newport gem and staple.

Food fine, atmosphere good, however, staff and management ruined a dinner experience we were hoping to have been a memorable one for a different reason. They should not be in the hospitality industry- maybe they were tired of tourists, but what ever it was, they were not welcoming and very unaccomodating. We heard the words “no and won’t” for several simple requests. Sad to have had this experience in such a fun location.

Apologies you did not have the experience you were looking for. I wonder what those requests were for; not justifying anything, it's just me trying to figure out why we would have said no to something. We are highly adaptable every day in the hospitality industry and can accommodate many requests. Others however can seem easy but are near impossible. Feel free to call a manager at the restaurant any time and we'll figure out how we let you down.

Everything g was perfect including our amazing server Masen! I had the lobster and corn chowder which was out of this work.

We arrived at 6pm and were seated at 6:15pm. The restaurant was very busy and the hostess was running back & forth seating people. Service and food were excellent. The clam chowder was wonderful!

We arrived when a large number of patrons of evening cruises descended on the , however not only was the food excellent but all the service personnel performed beyond the call of duty during this 7PM onslaught, they all kept smiling & were so gracious

When seating is we asked for a different table and were told 2 people could not be seated at a table for 4. Within a few minutes two other couples (parties of 2) were seated at tables for 4 even though there were tables for two unoccupied. At the end of our meal we asked to speak with the manager because the table we requested never did have anyone seated there and there were a number of tables that were open. The manager was worthless and had empathy for our complaint. The food was good, our waitress was great, but with the management’s complacency towards its customers, we will not go back. There are plenty of other great restaurants in Newport, RI.

Server was pleasant. However, they did not allow substitutions despite offering different side dishes. This forced me to pick the white fish entree Fish tasted did not taste fresh. Disappointed.

Would have given 5 stars if not for the reservation process. Booked an outdoor table and upon arrival the rude hostess told me I had to wait in line and that a reservation is no guarantee of a table. What? Isn't that what a reservation is? My reservation made no reference to this and the "things to know before you go" makes no mention of this. Here's an idea... if outdoor tables are first come, first served then don't allow me to make a reservation! Beyond that the food was delicious and our server was excellent.

This is a coachable moment for me since our reservations are meant to move our guests to the top of the wait list regardless of whether they choose indoor or outdoor seating (which is why we don't specify that on OpenTable). You should have gotten the very next available table whether it was indoors or outdoors. The next time you're here please let me make it up to you. -Rob

Overall , i prefer eating inside and outside was a bit less attentive. Still very very good.
