The Black Pearl, located in the heart of the city's bustling waterfront on Bannister's Wharf, is one of Newport's best-known and best-loved restaurants. From the warm ambiance and classic cuisine of our Commodore's Room and Tavern to the al-fresco charm of our Waterside Patio, the Black Pearl has something to offer everyone. Enjoy our clam chowder, raw bar, steamed lobster, sandwiches (including burgers, corned beef reuben, salmon, and swordfish), locally caught seafood, and more.

Hours: Open 7 days a week at 11am for Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner.
Reservations: Limited. No reservations will be accepted through the Summer Season.
Dress Code: Casual. Men are required to wear sleeves.

Loved the meal and service. Loud group was near us but not your fault, we would go back!

Really loud, but not surprising given the space. Our server was fine, but the expediter literally dropped the food at the other side of the table and left immediately. Forgot the side dish. Rather than any apology we were told he was new. The food was fine. An okay experience but would not likely return.

I have made The Black Pearl a dining destination on my annual visit to Newport for the last five years and have never been disappointed until tonight. I made a reservation for the dining room three weeks in advance for a special occasion dinner. I arrived early and was told that there wasn't a table available, but I could see the hostess at the outdoor dining area for immediate seating. Seating wasn't immediate and the service was mediocre and inattentive. Thankfully, the food did not disappoint. It was the only thing that saved the dining experience.

Sorry to hear about that Jeffrey. We take reservations daily, and while we do not hold a table empty waiting for any reservation to show up we move that reservation to the top of the wait list so that the next available table would be yours. This allows our guests with reservations to be either early or late, as was your case. All of this should have been explained to you, and I will talk to our team from last night to help with their communication about this.

We booked dinner there for our Anniversary the food was excellent. Our waiter had the food out promptly. But asked if I’d like another drink I said yes. He never brought it. When I reminded him I said never mind with the martini and could a I please have a water and my husband ordered a soda. He brought the soda and forgot my water. Brought water to the two tables beside me and still I didn’t get water. He came back and said he was bringing the check without asking if we wanted anything else….like coffee or desert. I reminded him that he didn’t ask about desert when he brought the check and he said “ oh I’m sorry” and walked away. I felt rushed to get out. I will not being arranging for dinner there again. Was very disappointed in the service.

The food was amazing. Highly recommend the scallops. One of our favorite restaurants here in Newport. It’s historic and fun!

Excellent service! Clam chowder was hands down the best I have ever had! Clams casino was small but delicious! Lobster roll was good but some celery would have really added to its deliciousness! We will be back!

Food fine, atmosphere good, however, staff and management ruined a dinner experience we were hoping to have been a memorable one for a different reason. They should not be in the hospitality industry- maybe they were tired of tourists, but what ever it was, they were not welcoming and very unaccomodating. We heard the words “no and won’t” for several simple requests. Sad to have had this experience in such a fun location.

Apologies you did not have the experience you were looking for. I wonder what those requests were for; not justifying anything, it's just me trying to figure out why we would have said no to something. We are highly adaptable every day in the hospitality industry and can accommodate many requests. Others however can seem easy but are near impossible. Feel free to call a manager at the restaurant any time and we'll figure out how we let you down.
