The Black Pearl, located in the heart of the city's bustling waterfront on Bannister's Wharf, is one of Newport's best-known and best-loved restaurants. From the warm ambiance and classic cuisine of our Commodore's Room and Tavern to the al-fresco charm of our Waterside Patio, the Black Pearl has something to offer everyone. Enjoy our clam chowder, raw bar, steamed lobster, sandwiches (including burgers, corned beef reuben, salmon, and swordfish), locally caught seafood, and more.

Hours: Open 7 days a week at 11am for Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner.
Reservations: Limited. No reservations will be accepted through the Summer Season.
Dress Code: Casual. Men are required to wear sleeves.

Lobster roll served on a croissant was messy and hard to eat. A Disappointment!. As usual, the chowder was excellent and the server very good.

To be served previously frozen shrimp cocktail was only the beginning. Didn’t live up to it’s reputation at all!

It was a beautiful sunny day outside on the terrace! Our server was lovely! Chowder was delicious as was the fish wrap! My bloody Mary was lacking in flavor but that’s my only criticism.

This is the spot for seafaring, shoreline ambience. Set in a low ceiling, dark wood beamed dining room, you almost feel like a passenger on an old ship. The bar is upbeat and traditional with a wide selection and a new waterfront outside terrace provides a more summertime vibe for those who want a brighter scene. Let me preface by saying I always expect to love my meal at Black Pearl and maybe this is where I went wrong. I booked reservations for a family dinner, some who I see only once a year. So, I really wanted this to be a special evening and ease of reservation, initial greeting and seating all went smoothly. The server took our drink order, but wasn't super helpful in explaining specials or finding out what we may be interested in. The crab cake order was minuscule and just ok tasting. Grilled Shrimp Caesar again was small and uninteresting. The lettuce wasn't fresh or presented well. We weren't provided with bread for the table, not sure if this is standard. The only standout was an order of Mussels, which was served in a generous wide bowl with plenty of well- seasoned, lemon / garlic / butter sauce for dipping. Usually I love dinner at Black Pearl. Sad to say, this experience was just ok.

We were very pleased with our meal and service at the Black Pearl. We go out in the area frequently during the summer but never had been to the Black Pearl. My scallops were excellent and my husband enjoyed a lobster stew, I tried it and it was delicious. We will definitely come back. Highly recommend

We were runnng very late for our reservation thanks to a late flight, traffic etc. They were great to allow us to come when we could. Wonderful hospitality and food!
