A birthday celebration made extra special by the amazing service, food and wine at Black Hide. Staff were friendly and attentive, especially James, who looked after us all night! Food was exceptional and wine delicious and the extra complimentary dessert was so thoughtful! We will definitely be back!

Lovely food but we ordered 4 lots of wagyu steak- had to be cooked to medium at a minimum. Lovely charring on the outside but all wagyus were rare. Still very nice though. All the rest of the food was good. Value for money is a hard one as there are a few places that cook steaks on par and for half the price but we went for the experience

I recently visited Black Hide’s new location to celebrate my birthday, and while the view was enjoyable, my overall experience with the food and service was quite disappointing. Having dined there twice since their move from Treasury Brisbane, I had high expectations, but both visits fell short. On my first visit, I ordered fish, only to find it served cold and containing bones—something I didn’t expect from a restaurant of this standard. When I mentioned it to the staff, their response was indifferent, which added to my frustration. Hoping my birthday celebration would bring a better experience, I returned and ordered a steak, but it too was disappointing. The steak was overly fatty, cold and not cooked to my liking. To make matters worse, the sundae I ordered for dessert came with melted ice cream, making the end of the meal as unsatisfactory as the start. It’s unfortunate that such a special occasion was marred by poor food quality and inattentive service. While the ambiance and view were lovely, Black Hide needs to improve both its culinary execution and customer service to live up to its reputation.

I wouldn’t rush back here. The food was good however when I booked I asked for a nice table with a view due to the special occasion. I wasn’t able to book anywhere inside (albeit empty seats in a number of areas) so we were on the terrace. We were off to the side which almost felt like we weren’t dining in the restaurant at all. Zero ambience, drinks were slow, they ran out of fries (at a steak restaurant?) there are plenty of other nicer restaurants in town at this price point.

Like others have mentioned, service is the biggest let down. We have dined at other Gambaros - both the caxton street one and the Treasury and so expected at least decent service. However, after being seated, we waited a good 10mins for someone to take our drink order. When no-one came to the table, we tried flagging a waiter down, and the one that did make eye contact with us, shook his head and muttered something along the lines of too busy. We were shocked. Finally our waitress came. After ordering our food, (we ordered a bit before 8pm), our entrees, which were all rare by the way (oysters, tartare, king fish, with the exception being the grilled scallops) took probably an hour to arrive. In that time, noone even came to check if we needed more drinks. We didnt get our mains until close to 9:30-9:40pm. Our plates were then cleared, without being asked if we were done. I still had steak left on mine and mash and was picking at it and it was taken from me. All I can do is laugh at this point. My friend was asked if she was done with her drink in which she replied “no not yet” but then the drink got taken away. I get that they were probably trying to close up, but then had the audacity to ask if we wanted dessert. We were pretty much told that we had to settle the bill because they were closing, which I found hilarious given how long it took for the food to come out, we were expected to finish within 30mins of it arriving. The food was really good. However service was a complete let down and a bit of a joke for a restaurant of this calibre. If you want service and steak, I would go to SK Steak and oyster or Establishment 203.

we dine out a lot and this is one of the worse experiences we had. we got a table at 6:30 and we immediately we were told the tomahawk has run out - the restaurant was 1/3 full and we came for the tomahawk. we orders our mains quickly and we did not receive it until 1 hour later… other tables who were seated after us and ordered after us got their mains but we did not receive our mains until 8:15pm after i complained multiple times . The staff were rude and just simply did not care knowing we were obviously unhappy , they did not care. The food was average the prices were ridiculously expensive for such average quality. we couldn’t finish it because it wasn’t good and when we asked for take away containers - we were told they did not have take away containers and gave us a piece of foil to wrap it ourselves- it’s very embrassing for such an expensive restaurant - to treat customers like this. We dine at a lot of expensive restaurants and this is by far the worse for service and quality.
