Black Ginger is a Korean - American restaurant focused on new age Korean cuisine, collaborating with local Detroit produce to showcase rich and traditional flavors.

Executive Chef Jorge Morales has worked in NYC Philly and Ann Arbor. He brings his vast knowledge and experiences to our restaurant and has crafted a menu that offers bold and unique flavors with traditional Korean roots. Black Ginger's menu offers exciting creations for both newcomers and veterans of Korean cuisine.

Owner Harold Kim is a Korean American who grew up in the metro Detroit area. He is knowledgeable in many Asian flavors like Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisine. As a Japanese restaurant owner, he has worked with many different types of seafood and has also traveled extensively around South Korea to understand both traditional and modern flavors.

Mary greeted us with such kindness and enthusiasm. She helped with pretty much everything that night. From greeting to serving to informing us about the menu and other helpful information. She is definitely an asset to this restaurant.

This place was an awesome choice, we have a great server and atmosphere! This is a new restaurant for me to try. The food was exceptional, my favorite was the chicken with the crusted glaze. This is a 10/10!

First time there was for my Wedding Anniversary. Very elegant presentations. Everything we had was good. Tapas style plates. The drinks and dessert stole the show. Will definitely be back.

Satisfying flavor profiles in food I ordered except crab udon. Dumplings, tempura broccoli, and bulgogi fries were delicious! Yuzu gelato capped off dinner nicely. Wait staff was very attentive and checked in before and after each dish was served. Clean, well-stocked restrooms, nice design aesthetic, and spacious booths to dine in comfortably (no belly grazing tables! IYKYK). $67 for one person before gratuity (no alcohol or beverages).
