Our waiter seemed overwhelmed when 3 new tables were seated in his section at almost simultaneously. Subsequently the service suffered. Water glass went unfilled, and when we mentioned we had not received our cornbread with our meals, he came back with cornbread for 4 separate tables. So he was overwhelmed and I didn't observe any bus help for him, as our appetizer plates stayed on the table even after the entrees were delivered. We also waited a long time after asking for our check. I would still recommend Black Eyed Sally's due to the previous dining experiences we've had there. But if your waiter doesn't seem to get to you often enough, speak to the hostess rather than become annoyed. PS Live music was top-notch!

Great food. Shrimp and grits was outstanding. Brisket and ribs were excellent. Nice drinks etc. service spotty. We enjoyed it very much and will be back.

Excellent…excellent…excellent. I am in Hartford for the jazz festival this weekend. I’ve eaten at BES three times since Friday. Love the food. Over the past six years, I’ve never been disappointed.

Horrible experience. We went for our daughter’s birthday party. Both my daughters are minor. They had a women come right from the main door to go and sing with the band. She was intoxicated and started swearing the most horrible words. We asked her to stop so many times but she didn’t want to listen and kept swearing. The bend didn’t stop playing either. We kept looking for a worker and nobody would help. After not being able to get help I called 911 and we were shaking. Only then the band stopped and a manager came to talk to us. We told her we were shaken and disappointed and the birthday ended up in a disaster but she didn’t seem to care at all. We asked for the bill because we wanted to just leave. She gave us a $10 discount only. And we used another $10 which I had received by email. We told her that we would never go back to that place. Never recommend to nobody! Horrible horrible experience!!

This was my first time at this establishment. It’s a really nice place. The food was very good and good ambiance. I will definitely revisit this restaurant when I am back in Hartford.

The pulled pork on Texas toast was very dry. Coleslaw had peppers in it yuck. To many beans in the rice and beans.

Service was a little slow which it never had been before. Might’ve been short staffed. The waitress looked like she was serving the whole restaurant herself. No complaints about the food. Drink was strong!! Just like I love it😊
