Great meal. Only disappointment was we made reservations for indoor and another opening came for 30 mins later but didn’t state it was for outdoor. We pushed back our reservation time and ended up outdoors which was too hot.

The steak I had @ Black Cow was as good, or better than any I have eaten in Charlottesville in the 46 years I have lived here . The wine cellar is well curated, but I would have liked to have seen more offerings from Virginia. The biggest and best surprise was the Belgian Fries. One serving was more than enough for two adults, and my wife had her very own pot of aioli, while my more pedestrian taste was very happy with the ketchup pot mounted on the other end of the serving tray. The drag races on Main were an unwelcome distraction for a couple of old curmudgeons like us, but we will definitely return when the weather is cooler and drier. Familiarize yourself with the online menus before you go, I'm certain that doing so added to my enjoyment. Go!

The outdoor seats are really uncomfortable. Better chairs with padding would help. And maybe more fan or other outdoor cooling power as the temps keep rising. Otherwise 5 stars on food, cocktails, and service for sure!

Our 5th visit to the restaurant. Highly disappointed. Very loud - acoustics are unfavorable. We ordered the special and the meat was good quality but not flavorful without the chimi sauce. Unfortunately, the fries were too tiny for me to grab and too crispy to stab. The salad was delicious and so was the bread and drinks. The service was very good.

Phenomenal food, service and atmosphere! My steak had a beautiful marble, was cooked to perfection and the compound butter was to die for! The spouts are a must!

10 out of 10! Steaks were awesome and cooked perfectly. Sides were delicious and service was impeccable! Prices are reasonable for what you’re getting. Great atmosphere! Definitely recommend!

Best fries on the planet. I usually grill steak at home - usually prime beef NY strips, so I order other cuts when I’m out. We had the filet and it was perfect and delicious. Creamed spinach was average. But the fries are the best ever.

Every time we visit Charlottesville, we stop here for a fabulous meal and the best service ever! My familt has dined here over 5 times and each meal was cooked perfectly as ordered.
