Serving traditional fare like Macaron Au Foie, Croque Madame, Salade Niçoise, French Onion Soup and Steak Frites as well as an extensive selection of bubbly and an exciting list of cocktails and aperitifs.

There is nothing a foodie loves more than really good French food. And Bistro du Jour offers REALLY good French food. Of course, they have the staples like Escargots De Bourgogne, Moules Frites, and Coq au Vin. But their Cod Quenelles in Lobster Sauce made me long for Lyons and the Vol-au-Vent de Champignons was so hearty, I felt satiated without any meat protein. But as a foodie, I am on a quest for the perfect Soupe À L'Oignon because, like the omelette, it’s a marker of excellence. And their onion soup could be a meal in itself. They also have a great wine list, and the staff is friendly, patient, and professional.

It was a delightful surprise to find a lovely restaurant near Union Station. The service is terrific, and it felt like a special occasion destination.

Lovely patio with plenty of room to bring your dog. Always great food. For lunch/brunch, we love the onion soup, salmon, and the croque madame. The macarons with foie gras are a brilliant snack. Wonderful cocktails and the service is friendly and attentive. Best value French bistro in the city!

My partner and I ate here during Restaurant Week Summer 2024. For $40 we received French onion soup, confit de canard, and crême brulée. I also had a glass of rosé wine. All items were excellent, possibly sublime. Having drunk much onion soup but never in France, I will trust that theirs was authentic; ditto for the crême brulée. The duck confit was a different story. It was sublime! The duck was cooked well and tasted like duck. The skin was delightfully crunchy. The powdery topping did not add much. The lentils were delicious. Unfortunately, the confit is not part of the regular menu. The chef handled it so well that I am confident that it would be popular if they can price it attractively. Our server Patrice and her colleagues were attentive without being intrusive. The manager Aisha visited seemingly all tables to get comments. Of course, we spoke approvingly.

I recommend the jazz brunch on Sunday's. You need to make a reservation. The decor, food, and music were (are) excellent. From the time we arrived to the time we left, it was a great and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Please visit this wonderful hotel/bistro and bring all your friends!
