Our experience at Blantyre was delightful from start to finish. Blantyre of course is gorgeous and the Bistro is lovely. Our waiter, Jacob, was charming and attentive. The food was exquisite; beautifully presented and so delicious.

The hotel told us that our reservation was canceled, but we didn’t cancel it. However they accommodate us in the main dining room. The architecture, ambiance and service were excellent. However the food was awful. My wife ordered a wild mushrooms cassoulet. She got a small dish with hard poorly cooked beans from a can and two sliced mushrooms. I asked for a duck dish and they served a hard poorly cooked small piece of hard duck breast. We also asked for vegetables as side dish and this was the best part of the meal. The wine list was good and we had a nice bottle of wine.

Girls Lunch Out. Service was timed evenly for full enjoyment of the meal without prolonged periods of inattentiveness to our needs, such as refilling water or coffee. Food was delicious and portioned well. Not too little, but not huge and overwhelming, giving the diner gastric distress. Dessert was tasty. Sweet Corn Mousse, who’dathunkit? But delicious and presented beautifully.

The setting is just wonderful. The food was very good and the service matched. The wine list offered little choice with most wines way more expensive than they should be, but otherwise a very nice evening.

perfect Although I did not notice a dress code, upon arrival it was obvious we were woefully under dressed. The staff could not have been nicer, actually successfully seemed not to notice, (!!!) Lovely dining room, service with just the right level of attention. Probably the best food we'd had in at least a decade. Not cheap, but well less than several establishments we have visited. When I get back to the Berkshires I will be certain to return to Blantyre...properly attired.

Breathtaking setting, fitting music, and lovely ambiance. The staff were not stuffy at all and were very friendly, though at times the servers seemed new to fine dining service. The food was very good, yet for the price point it was disappointing at times. For example, I had the roast chicken, which had a truly delicious sauce but the chicken itself was rubbery, a problem I'd expect a professional kitchen would be able to avoid. I did not send it back because I had limited time and and couldn't wait for them to prepare another, so I can't tell if it was the preparation or should a freak occurrance. The cocktails were good however, and again the setting cannot be beat. I would recommend it to friends with the caveat to adjust their expectations for the food.

Food was awful. Chicken special hardly had any chicken in it. It looked like a chicken stew. The salmon dish was minute. Even the dessert was a disappointment.

The renovations have ruined what used to be a truly beautiful and gracious dining room. It is crowded, with uncomfortable seating, and a bar atmosphere. Clearly the emphasis is on appetizers; the rest of the menu is limited and overpriced.
