Come to Bistro 42 at North 42 Degrees to experience our passion, beauty and southern hospitality. Set among an 18 acre vineyard and lavender farm the restaurant boasts spectacular views of the vines and lake. The seasonal menu offers versatile small plates made for sharing and delicious entrees all created using locally grown produce and inspired by classic French and European cuisine with a modern twist making our territories exceptional flavour profiles come to life! Visiting from the U.S and spent a long weekend in Ontario Wine Country. We made dinner reservations in advance at 3 different venues prior to arrival. We were excited about North 42, based on what we saw online, pics, menus, etc. We stopped in during the afternoon for a glass of wine, and to check it out, prior to our evening reservation. The staff was very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating, so the vibe was good. We looked at the menu and there were some great options that sounded really good. When we arrived for dinner, we were presented with a different menu. Understandable as a lot of these venues base their offerings on farm-to-table availability and seasonal offerings. Our server Shawn, was polite, responsive and did a good job. They offered Risotto on the menu, however, were told it was in fact not available until tomorrow. My wife opted for the Cornish Spatchcock Hen with sautéed peas, lemon mascarpone arancini. She felt it was just ok, lacking any real flavor, kind of bland. I elected to go with the Hangar Steak with Chimichurri, roasted garlic and fingerling potatoes and Demi glaze. The Hangar Steak, which is supposed to be a very flavorful cut of meat if prepared correctly, lacked any real flavor, was somewhat dry and a bit chewy. The fingerling potatoes had so much salt in them, they were not eatable. Our server apologized and offered to get me another order, however by that time we were to far through our meal. The server did provide a discount for our inconvenience which was appreciated. The venue is really nice, with an outdoor deck overlooking the vineyard. IMO, it seems there may be a chef issue in terms of how these dishes are prepared, seasoned, etc. Hoping this can be informative for the owners so they can address the issues.

We recently had lunch at North 42. Ambiance is wonderful. Waitress was efficient and pleasant but the wait for our food was very long. When the food finally arrived it was very good.

As usual North42 served us a wonderful meal. There were 6 of us and everyone enjoyed their dishes. Try the burrata salad - it is excellent. This is one of our favourite restaurants for a special meal.

The food and service at this winery were wonderful. Not a single dish we ordered missed its mark. However, all of these great qualities were overshadowed by the lack of air conditioning in the upstairs dining. The staff had mentioned the ac could not keep up, and instead they opened a couple of doors to the outside, which was inadequate due to high temperatures outdoors. Our server was more than accommodating in moving us outdoors in hopes for a breeze, but many of the tables on the upper deck caught seating in direct sunlight. If the establishment had issues with air conditioning, we feel that this should have been communicated prior to our reservation as we may have postponed our visit. I can only imagine how the kitchen staff must have felt if it was anything like the dining room.

The restaurant was very nice and the peach salad that several of us had was wonderful! The vineyard view was priceless too. We would definitely go back!
