The Bird in Hand is a friendly independently owned and operated pub in the village of Mayford. Whether you are looking for a casual drink, formal get together, delicious Sunday roast or a beer in our lovely garden area we have you covered.
We offer a great selection of beers, wine & cocktails that can be paired with our fresh seasonal menus served in our formal dining area, casual bar area or large sunny garden. We are proud to have a passionate and dedicated team who are here to help you enjoy your experience with us.
We are dog friendly in our bar and garden areas.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children of any age may dine with us but must vacate the premises by 8pm.

Went for Sunday lunch and chose the usual roasts - including the vegetarian. All very good. We also chose the house wines by the glass - and they were good too.

Had not been for a while, but love the layout. We took friends who had not been before and this venue is definitely now on their list of places to revisit

Celebrated a milestone birthday. Appreciated our table being located at the back which made it feel more private. Staff were brilliant, food was amazing and service was great. Will definitely be back.

Food and service were very good and we didn't need to wait long. Good choice on menu. Noise level was quite high - as the restaurant (and adjoining bar) were full. (Probably due to recent good publicity for Bird in Hand) Adjoining table of 6 was particularly noisy.

Good choice of food all beautifully presented. Service was excellent- attentive without being intrusive.

First time here after being recommended the place. Nice little seating area very chill atmosphere. Food came fairly quickly had from the set lunch time menu; calamari which was nice and crisp with a little chilli heat from the mayo. Seafood risotto, was quite a subtle flavour but pleasant with some pieces of crayfish, clams (only 2 clams in mine) and prawns. Could've been a bit hotter. The star of the show was the caramelised banana split which came halved in its skin with almost a creme brulé topping some Chantilly cream and a biscoff ice-cream and fudge sauce. Feared it could be too sweet but the balance was perfect. Would definitely go again to sample the a la carte menu.

We understand why this establishment has recently received an award - well deserved based on an excellent meal yesterday. This was our first visit and we very much look forward to our next visit.

Service good although always feels slightly rushed. My food was awful and can't believe something so tasteless snd awful on your menu. I had gnocchi. Vile.

We had the most wonderful meal here yesterday, the food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding. Very clear to see why this establishment has been voted the best in Surrey.

A while since we’ve eaten at The Bird in the Hand. We generally enjoyed what we had. Thank you to the kitchen for the 25th Wedding Anniversary dessert plate, that was a lovely touch. Areas for improvement: Drink service a little slow, prawn bon bons could have been warmer, some of the calves liver a little poor but lovely crispy bacon, no spoon for the mustard, 175ml of wine when asked for 250ml.
