The Bird in Hand is a friendly independently owned and operated pub in the village of Mayford. Whether you are looking for a casual drink, formal get together, delicious Sunday roast or a beer in our lovely garden area we have you covered.
We offer a great selection of beers, wine & cocktails that can be paired with our fresh seasonal menus served in our formal dining area, casual bar area or large sunny garden. We are proud to have a passionate and dedicated team who are here to help you enjoy your experience with us.
We are dog friendly in our bar and garden areas.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children of any age may dine with us but must vacate the premises by 8pm.

I went for roast lamb and my sister went for roast chicken. She had a chicken supreme which is a good size however I had 2 slices of lamb and felt that was a bit stingy. Also the roast potatoes weren't crispy on outside and fluffy in the middle. Lastly the cauliflower cheese looked nice but when the sauce was off the cauliflower was brown looking. We booked for 4.30 and cut off was 5pm but did feel a bit disappointed. What also annoys me is that they added service charge on to bill. There was only two of us and I feel I should choose if I want to leave tip. On the plus side the staff were pleasant.

Meal for 8 for my daughter’s birthday was absolutely delicious! The Bird in the Hand had been recommended to me and I can honestly say it lived up to its high recommendation. I will be back!

We have been to Bird In The Hand a couple of times recently and have been very happy with the experience. Service is always smiling and good, we can take the dog into the bar and the food is good.

Great wholesome and beautifully presented food with first class service! My own family reservation was the lack of ambiance in the restaurant itself! The bar is far more rustic and comfortable to eat in.

Really lovely restaurant! Highly recommend for special occasions. Staff are very friendly and accommodating too.

Starter was fine but roast lamb was disappointing. Vegetables were grey at the cut end and potatoes were not crisp but chewy. Lamb had a lot of visible fat and was undercooked and unappetising . They did refund me half of it without asking but felt disappointed and probably won’t return.
