The Bird in Hand is a friendly independently owned and operated pub in the village of Mayford. Whether you are looking for a casual drink, formal get together, delicious Sunday roast or a beer in our lovely garden area we have you covered.
We offer a great selection of beers, wine & cocktails that can be paired with our fresh seasonal menus served in our formal dining area, casual bar area or large sunny garden. We are proud to have a passionate and dedicated team who are here to help you enjoy your experience with us.
We are dog friendly in our bar and garden areas.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children of any age may dine with us but must vacate the premises by 8pm.

Lovely venue to dine in, very good menu choice. 2 of us chose from specials board, and one of our party is gluten free. I was going to choose from the excellent regular menu but know I can get that next time, perfectly cooked and well served. All had desserts, Posset was popular with us. Excellent outing all round yes would definitely recommend. Drinks great. The Prosecco was lovely and Sauvignon Blanc vanished quickly (don’t look at me I was driving).

This is the second time my friends and I have met up to have lunch and both times it had been exceptional Great food and excellent service so we will be back again very soon

The set lunch menu was disappointing with duplication of dishes in Starters and Mains, hence selection needed to be from a La carte menu. The calves liver dish was good but spoilt by being served on a cold plate. The waitress to whom this was pointed out was unreasonably dismissive, making for an awkward atmosphere. One Afters of espresso coffee was brought quickly and the Afters of ice-cream dessert a considerable time later; they should have been served at the same time.

For both of our visits staff have been incredibly helpful in finding a quiet spot as our son is autistic. We really appreciate the effort and reflects on a great place to eat and spend time. Will definitely be visiting again and would recommend Bird in Hand for anybody looking for a nice place to eat/drink.
