Every Bill Granger’s restaurant reflects the spirit we like to think of as ‘Australian’: sunny, easy-going and generous.

Bill opened his first restaurant in Sydney’s Darlinghurst in 1993. It soon became loved for its legendary breakfasts, served at the famous central communal table, where locals and travellers, families and friends, continue to be welcomed. Thirty years later, Bill’s relaxed, friendly and infectious joy in good, fresh food has become truly global, and is enjoyed at his restaurants in Sydney, Seoul, Tokyo and London.

Portions were rather small for price, service was too pushy… i felt rushed.. it was ok overall

I was entertaining clients and was disappointed with the service and food. Our food came at different times. I had to request twice for our order to be taken. My salad came with no dressing and was pretty much all lettuce which was disappointing for almost $30. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Bit ordinary actually. I’ve dined at Bills in Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Japan and Double Bay, many many times, for dinners and breakfasts. Service today was terrible. Not offered coffee, had to reach out for any ordering, signature scrambled eggs were cold. All orders took a long time. I had booked for two, two weeks before, and was seated at a table for 4? A notable deterioration in service and food. Did not feel welcome. Don’t know why I would ever go back.

Overall the experience was anticipated. Except for paying the bill. Just as we were settling the bill, we were told there was a 10% 'gratuity surcharge which needed to be added because we were a group of 8 people. Ouch!! Non notice, nothing on any menus - outrageous.

Food was horrifically tasteless and expensive. I mentioned on the booking that it was a birthday lunch and there was no mention of it. Lunch menu really needs to be reviewed and tasted to see what works with genuine flavour and what doesn’t. Happy to go back again for breakfast but wouldn’t do lunch again.

Fabulous experience. The salt and pepper squid delightful as was the crumbed chicken with lemon. I wouldn't necessarily choose the chicken again - but the salt and pepper squid was really delicious. The service was excellent - I took my older sister there for lunch as it was her birthday and we couldn't have felt more welcomed.
