This beautiful, historic room - located on the first floor of our York tea room - is steeped in history and provides the perfect setting for our most exquisite afternoon tea. You'll be serenaded by our pianist as you enjoy a selection of savouries, indulgent sandwiches, specially selected teas and irresistible dainty cakes and scones.     Beautiful surroundings, gorgeously presented, a very special treat. All staff encountered were friendly, professional and a credit to Betty’s. Thank you. Wonderful booked festive / Christmas afternoon tea in the Belmont room at Betty’s in York.

    We had a delicious vegan afternoon tea and were well looked after. It's fantastic to have live music from a pianist too. Thank you to all the staff

    Excellent place to spend an evening. Food and tea were really good, refined and plentiful. Service was outstanding and there was nice soft live piano music creating a wonderful atmosphere. I would definitely suggest a visit to Bettys whenever you travel to York.

    A great experience. We found the first pianist to be a little loud but the second one pitched things far better. Food was great. For me, I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion but I think it is quite expensive

    I had such fond memories of Betty’s from my student days and decided to treat my family to what I thought would be a truly special afternoon tea. What a huge disappointment! I had pre-booked a table for 4 in the Belmont Room and our party arrived a little early. We were admitted, but given the last table right at the very end of the room which felt completely cut off from the rest and left 2 of us facing a wall with the entirety of the restaurant behind us. When it eventually came, the food was good, but we had to wait an age for it and the service really should have been better throughout. The staff did the bare minimum required, but were certainly not attentive and did nothing to make us feel like we were valued customers. They did not bother to check if we needed anything else, or to clear the plates and glasses we no longer needed; they merely brought additional plates for the cakes at some point and would have left it at that if we had not used the opportunity to request some additional items. Given where we were seated, it was probably easy for the staff to overlook us and it seemed that they also just had too few staff on duty to offer a more personal service. It really felt like a production line. Overall, what should have been a really special family celebration turned out to be a dreadfully overpriced and mediocre experience. I truly regret paying such an extortionate amount for this rather average food and poor service when we could have had a really delicious dinner, a far nicer ambience and excellent service elsewhere. Sorry, Betty’s, but we shan’t be coming back.
