Bernie’s Kitchen | Bar| Cinema is a boutique theatre experience in downtown Kelowna, BC. Our screen plays a mix of retro and new(ish)-release films, and yes, you can enjoy them with some top-notch food and drink!

We’re excited to bring the movies back to Bernard Ave., but we also love a great meal. The first floor and mezzanine at Bernie’s are where you’ll find artisan cocktails, one-of-a-kind wines, local craft beer, and truly tasty dishes. Our dinner menu is a uniquely Justin Best creation, with influences from all over the Spanish diaspora and beyond.

Head up one more flight of stairs from the restaurant to find a cinema like no other. Comfortable and stylish seating, food and beverage options outside the concession norm (don’t worry, we’ve got the classics too), and of course, motion pictures that are sure to entertain!

The food was excellent! But unfortunately, our server didn't have time for us. She had a large table and there wasn't time for the other three tables in her section. So our drinks sat empty and we had to flag down anyone to ask her to come to the table. I'm sure it was just because she was busy, she was very friendly, but it unfortunately, didn't make our evening as enjoyable as it could have been.

The food and service were excellent, but it was very loud and difficult to hear someone speaking directly across from me. Not a good date night option.

I ordered the gnocchi alla vodka and my friend ordered the $39 menu. Both of us were really pleased with what we got and took home leftovers!

Well as it was our first experience here. The intro kind of left us a bit flat. Waiter took our order and promptly disappeared. Lots of waitresses milling about and it wasnt that busy. 20 minutes later. Our 1st course arrived. But not our drinks. Halfway through first course I had to ask once more for our drinks. Saving grace is the food is excellent. The caesar salad is epic as is Nashville chicken and the incredible coleslaw. Heaven and hell equals paradise to the palette. Ambience. None sadly to speak of. Felt like a pub with the atypical noise and the tv screens blasting sports images. Id had in mind a bit more elegant atmosphere. Like classic movie theater vibe. But. That said. Its a pub with way too many waitresses that are untrained but epic food. Dessert was the torte and it wasnt that epic. Should have went the extra mile and tried the peanut butter pie. Go for the food and reduce expectations.

Laura, I'm really sorry we fell so short during your visit. While I'm glad you enjoyed your meal itself, I apologize that the service was lacking in such a significant way. It's certainly not what we're striving for, and I'll make sure to address this with our GM. I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you again sometime and do a much better job overall.

Didn’t like being seated upstairs Movie booths are not comfortable for 3 people

we came for a date night and it was our first time dining at Bernie's! i'm shocked at how amazing it was. Our server was fantastic and had excellent timing. We shared an order of the calamari to start and a half caesar each and let me just say, that was the best caesar salad i've had served to me in a restaurant probably ever. Our mains were fantastic too. we purchased tickets to see a film in the upstairs cinema, of course the service was incredible up there too. 10/10 experience! we will be dining again, thank you so much!
