Set in the revitalized James St. North neighbourhood, Berkeley North is a West Coast inspired restaurant located on historic King William Street in the heart of downtown Hamilton. Berkeley North is the go to spot for a quick bite to eat, weekend late night cocktails, celebrating a special occasion or hosting a private party. Our young and passionate culinary team follows no scripts or rules when creating vibrant and unique dishes. We allow the seasons to influence our changing menu and are committed to using responsibly sourced ingredients. The restaurant just got better compared to my last visit here:) Food and Menu- My partner and I ordered the tasting menu, along a few of the house cocktails and some snacks. I really like the option of a set menu, as a normal menu often confuses me with too many good options. The delicacies were too good, and I have never had expectations from food like mushroom dumplings or teriyaki eggplant but damn were they goood!!! Ambience- The ambiance of the place was set with soft lighting and pleasant music. It’s a great spot for a romantic date night or a productive day meeting. Staff- The staff was great, our server Suzy seemed like a delight and went above and beyond to make our experience rather memorable. Price- They were priced just as I expected it to be. Fine dining at its peak. Overall, I would visit again if I ever found myself in town. It was worth the trip to see how they managed to achieve the Michelin Award and glad to say that they lived up to the expectations.

I wrote a more detailed review on Goggle reviews. The main issue was two of the three of us found a hair in each of our main dishes, which ruined whatever potential for a good experience that there was.

My friend recommended me this place and we finally got a chance to visit today. Truly amazing experience. Food and the presentation was fantastic. The ambience was lovely and I absolutely loved the cozy corner with the plants. The stuff was friendly and attentive. Loved it.

My husband and I went in for lunch and the server was super friendly. We ordered the BN salad and it was top notch. We also had the Tune Poke Bowl and it was phenomenal. Ambience was cozy and music was just right. We are coming back very soon. Recommended!

Overall, we had a pleasant experience at this restaurant. The menu had recently updated for November, and we opted for the two-person Tasting Menu with the gluten-free option. The Tuna Crudo was a highlight (the appetizer) of the meal. The rest was average. The greens, however, had a slightly salty and sour taste. The trout was cooked well, but its accompanying flavors overpowered the dish. The food was fresh but tasted average overall. The prices were reasonable. However, none of the dishes stood out as particularly spectacular. The cocktails were average, and the French press coffee was just ordinary (there was no espresso machine), which was a bit disappointing to end the meal like that. The ambiance was nice, with a lively atmosphere. However, it was a bit too loud for our liking. We would consider returning? That would be a big maybe only.

Berkeley North is definitely worth the hype. The Gnocchi was out of this world and simply the best I have had. Carrots, Carrots, Carrots was flavourful (nice name btw) The server made some great wine pairing suggestions and was fast at service. Recommended!

Dined in with my husband, and after we walked out, we couldn’t stop talking about the food. For our appetizer, we ordered the Carrots, Carrots Carrots cause the name caught our eye, and we ended up loving it. For the main, we had the steak frites, which was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The wine selection was also impressive and paired beautifully with our meal. Given the quality and portion sizes, we felt it was great value for money. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we enjoyed every moment!
