We had a wonderful celebration at Bentwood. The AvoSmash was smashing! Loved the coffee too. Will be back here soon!

Took my mum to Bentwood for lunch today. Her first time in Melbourne could not have been better with the great food and the coolest vibe. The menu options were varied and we gorged on sumptuous schnitzels and smoothies. The staff was friendly and helped choose the best options. Bentwood is the kinda place you’d want to be on a lazy Saturday afternoon! Def coming back again!

I appreciate that they allowed split bill but I had high expectations for this venue and it sadly didn’t deliver. I work in hospitality so I have high standards when it comes to customer service. It wasn’t busy - I put our menus to the side and was staring at staff for a good 5-10minutes and they didn’t come over, I had to go up to ask for my drink to be redone as it wasn’t what I asked for and tell them we needed to order. Staff didn’t smile much and food looked ok. Though my burger was really tasty.

Sunday morning 10am booking, and although barely anyone there, table for 7 had not been made up and had to wait 10 minutes for table. Poor service, only two very junior waiters for such a large cafe. Coffee and food were average, not good not bad.

An incredible little gem nestled below an apartment building. It had a very “chic” vibe and the staff go above and beyond. The food was great - would definitely recommend the spring salad. Overall, a great spot and would definitely come back again.

My sister and I went here for brunch yesterday arvo. We were really hungry so we used the QR code to order all of our food and drinks. 20 minutes later someone came over to take our order. Luckily we had already ordered within a few minutes of us sitting down. I believe they were understaffed. It was so awkward watching them all walk around looking clueless. One of them, I believe looked like the floor manager was working overtime, she was trying to cover all areas while the waitress & barista weren’t up to par. We saw 5 groups (not an exaggeration) people get up and leave. There was a table of 6 ppl who left and they had been sitting there longer than us! My sister and I order the spring salad w poached chicken. I lost count how long we had waited for it. We spent most of our time people watching. The barista came over and brought us the salad & it didn’t have the chicken. They asked ‘did you want me to take it back then?’ I agreed because I paid for it. We both had. It was so awkward because my sister and I are both from Hospo backgrounds and we could tell there were gaps. We wanted to get up and be of help if we could have. The barista was barely behind the machine while we were dining. 3 tables surrounding us had gotten up to ask for help or some type of service. It was such a awkward and helpless situation. The chef in the kitchen was on his phone heaps (we had hoped he was requesting back up of some kind). Props to the floor manager with strawberry blonde hair who was running around like crazy. However, Coffee is always delicious from Inglewood. Sadly, the coffee can’t make up for the lack of service, atmosphere and quality we didn’t receive.

Terrible- was always our go to, always a great standard. We had terrible service, mediocre food and not the same vibe. Did I say terrible service!?

Beautiful little cafe to visit on a Sunday morning before the crowds start coming in and it starts getting noisy around 10:30am. The coffee roast used by Bentwood is excellent. A friend of mine had an Oat latte while I had a skinny latte, and both tasted incredible.
