I had heard a lot about the quality of food at Benihana for years. It’s just not very good, I’m afraid. The 5/6 course meals, “specialties”, were essentially mass produced - certainly the soup, salad and rice were. The colosal shrimp were just regular size, the lobster tail was a few small pieces of cut lobster meat placed into a shell and the jumbo scallops were literally tiny. We sat at the lounge rather than the collective tables so we watched and heard the chefs as they banged their knives against the metal cooktops. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to learn that customers are ingesting bits of metal. Really. Also, I had informed Benihana via OpenTable that it was my wife’s 60th birthday. They paid no attention to that. Honestly, I would not go back.

Man! We had the most beautiful server! To me, she’s a solid Latina deserving of a 9! Her looks, body, personality, and service alone are worth going back to Benihana. I never did catch her name but I’ll never forget her beauty, charm, and approachability. She shared photos of her three beautiful children and mentioned that she had a recent breakup from a 9 year relationship. I wish she would give an older guy a chance. I’ll see you soon mama!

We had a reservation at 7:30 pm and we ended up eating until 9 pm 😣. Our waitress told us that the restaurant was taking more reservations than they supposed to handle.

It was an awful experience for someone who’s visiting for the first time. I had a reservation for 8 o’clock and sat there for an hour before someone came to actually cook the meal. I had to leave before the meal was done cooking because I had to be somewhere else at 9:45. I only received my yakisoba. I wasn’t able to wait for the rice, my veggies, or the dessert. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! Not worth the hype.

I had a reservation at 8 pm but wasn’t seated until 8:30 pm. To make matters worse, the chef didn’t arrive at our table until 9:45 pm and clearly lacked the skills I’ve seen at other teppanyaki restaurants. He didn’t perform any of the usual showmanship and couldn’t even cook the food properly—everything was under-seasoned. I’ve been to teppanyaki places hundreds of times, and this was by far the worst experience. To top it off, they refused to accept my $30 birthday voucher because it was a weekend, even though the voucher didn’t mention any such restriction. Very disappointing.
