We had a delicious meal at Benares with some of our favorites (samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Biryani) and also tried some new things including a goat dish. We had a wonderful surprise when our server brought out rose-flavored ice cream and a warm chocolate brownie for dessert to celebrate our anniversary. It was out of this world!

Excellent dinner out at Benares, all the food was fresh and tasty, great service, and ambiance. Will definitely be back soon and happy to find another Indian food option so close to home.

the food here is the best Indian food in Bergen County. The Andra Chicken, Khosta Gobie , rosemary Naan and tomato chutney are all amazing.

The food was authentic and delicious. Spicy means spicy, just so you know. Even mild spice has some heat, though, true to its name, not too much. The menu is packed with choices for every pallet. Three of us had a chicken dish, a lamb dish, and a goat dish, all of which were tender and delicious. It's a BYOB, so don't forget a bottle if you want to imbibe with your meal. Thumbs up, and we WILL be returning.

The food and service were excellent! The eggplant salad is superb and the samosas exactly as they should be- warm and delicious. The main courses of chicken rolls, lamb Rogan were superb and to top it off, the rose petal ice cream with molten lava cake was perfect.

It had been a while since I'd been to Benares, and it was even better than I remembered! The staff was helpful, as always, but the food was stellar. As a mostly plant-based pescatarian, I normally enjoy dishes from Benares's ample vegetarian selection, I branched out and tried the fish malai tikka appetizer and the Tandoori shrimp entree. Both were delicious, and my dining companions enjoyed sharing both dishes with me. The appetizer, in particular, was out of this world with a melt-in-your mouth quality and delicious, subtle flavors. My companions all had lamb dishes they raved about, but as I don't eat red meat, I can't attest to them. But I did have some of their aloo papri chaat and that, too, was delicious. I'd had it previously at Benares at lunchtime, but the dinner portion was enormous--perfect for our table of four to share. The restaurant can be a little pricey compared to other Indian options in the area, but the food is far better. I believe they still have a takeout special prix fixe that is priced reasonably, but unless it has changed, the portions are much more ample if you dine in. Highly recommend!

Excellent food! Try the eggplant salad- absolutely delicious! The butter chicken was wonderful, creamy and tender, while the rose petal ice cream with chocolate cake was sublime!

This was our first time there and the food was excellent! We had goat, butter chicken, Dal, a shrimp appetizer and eggplant appetizer, naan, desserts too and it was all so delicious, I highly recommend. There were 4 of us and we shared all the dishes. Will definitely go back.

Our party sampled the Naan- high marks, Tandoori chicken, a medium spice lamb dish, a medium spice goat curry. All were excellent! We will be back.
