Belmonte’s Ristorante crafts fine Italian cuisine in its elegant and charming eatery, located in the seaside resort town of Asbury Park. For starters, the portabella mushrooms stuffed with eggplant, spinach and mozzarella and the battered artichoke hearts Francese make excellent choices. If pasta is what you are craving, Belmonte’s Ristorante has many delightful choices, such as the potato gnocchi in a meaty Bolognese sauce, the shrimp pappardelle Roma with mushrooms and asparagus and the fettuccini Frankie with crumbled sausage, escarole and beans. Some of Belmonte’s Ristorante other specialty entrées include the chicken Philadelphia sautéed with shallots, mushrooms and green peppercorns, the filet mignon in sherry wine sauce and the prosciutto and mozzarella stuffed pork chops in a madeira sauce. The waiter was sweet but spoke so fast we had to ask him to keep repeating himself. The food was fair. Very salty red sauce and very tough pork chops. After dinner aa we were leaving I looked at the chair I was sitting in And was horrified by the filth. I wish i looked before I sat down.

EXCELLENT Revisited after a long day and was delighted with selections, service and prices. Staff were energetic and enthusiastic about having a job unlike other restaurants in this area. No complaints from all 5 diners.

Food is great and seems to be getting better. Service needs more attention. Note that a 20.5% automatic tip + 3% cc charge on a party of 2 was a surprise as there was no notice.

Clearly, Belmonte’s have switched owners. From some reviews there was a time when either the former owner or the new owners left the restaurant a bit shaky. This was not our experience last night 8/26/24. The front team was working like a well-oiled machine; bread and water served promptly after menus were delivered. The bread was warm and accompanied by butter soft enough to spread. The kitchen seemed to be running just as efficiently as the front. Our food came out quickly, leaving us enough time to savor the bread. The food was hot and delicious. Wait staff were attentive bringing more bread when requested. This is a family run business; dad prepares food and the front is represented by children of his. If you were a loyal Belmonte’s customer who was worried about the change of owners, I suggest that you give them another try. They are clearly working hard to offer the best dining experience.

Local place with good food. Bread served on the table without asking and its a BYOB - very good value. Dishes are delicious and plentiful.

Ambiance was quite nice. Food came timely. The service was terrible. We asked for water and never got it. We asked for a Diet Coke and never got it. Our waitress never came back to check on us or ask about our food ( that was brought out by the food runner). We had to ask the “runner” for our check and we never saw our waitress again. We also mentioned in our reservation that it was a birthday and we were never asked about dessert. It’s all very unfortunate.

A nice casual dining experience. Happy to see the food remains good with the new owner although missed the 50% off pasta night but happy they still give some percentage off

They did not honor our gift card. Told us there were new owners and their computer system didn’t accept this card. The gift card was issued in January 2024. Very bad business practice!!

Unfortunately, this place has made some changes and not for the better. The hostess was a bidder, waitress and hostess. No fresh parm for the pasta, no wine holder for the wine. No sign of the owner who was always present in the past and no call back for our table, so we had to book another time just to have dinner!
