A casual Italian(ish) eatery in the heart of Old Strathcona. Food inspired by the traditions and culture of Italy, cooked with modern techniques and ingredients.

Produce is chosen and cooked when it is shining the brightest. Seasonal vegetables are treated to showcase their quality. A selection of handmade pasta made from Alberta flour. Proteins in large format made for sharing, just like at Nona’s table. And tiramisu, who can forget!

“bella” offers a cozy ambience, perfect for a relaxed night out - though this may be compromised if you are seated next to the window (like us) where it was exceptionally frigid. Where the ambience shines, the food is lack-lustre. The sun-dried tomato gnocchi were indeed delicious and as soft as clouds, however, the cacio e pepe meatballs were unfortunately tiny and overcooked. The half chicken was juicy and flavourful, but not necessarily worth the steep price attached to it. To add to this, we anticipated most of the dishes to arrive at approximately the same time as we were told this would be a family-style dining experience. To our dismay, each dish arrived a considerable time apart rendering the first dish cold. For the amount that you pay per dish, we expected a more seamless dining experience. While “bella” has potential with its atmosphere and a few good dishes, the food and service details need attention to match the charm of the space.

Delicious food and always great service! The set Valentine’s Day menu was super tasty, but I do wish they gave slightly bigger portions of a couple of the dishes. Could’ve done with just a touch more pasta and arancini—overall didn’t leave hungry, but did still have room for a bit more. Chicken parm, strozzapreti, and grilled zucchini were fab!

Lots of care into the dishes we ordered - particularly the delicious gnocchi and the cacio e pepe meatballs. Didn’t love the heavy dill presence in the Caesar salad. We had a very nice time, very good value. Thank you.

I really enjoyed everything and the pasta is just some the best I've had. My only criticism would be that a few of the sauces had the same note to them, I think it was thyme and a but strong. Other than that, amazing! It's a great place to go. This was my third time!

Fantastic experience as always. Service is always awesome Marshall (I think was the name) was wonderful and helpful. Garlic scape crostinis were lovely and the strozzapreti was delicious as well. Thank you to the bar/wine server who gave me the run down about my bottle of wine as well, really appreciated the knowledge.

Unbelievable spot! What a cozy and beautiful place for a night out. The food was outstanding and the service was amazing! Recommend 10/10.
