Beatrix is a neighborhood coffeehouse, restaurant and meeting place in Chicago’s River North, Streeterville, Fulton Market and Oak Brook neighborhoods. The restaurant is the brainchild of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises’ Founder Rich Melman, Executive Partner and Divisional President Marc Jacobs and Chef Partners John Chiakulas, Rita Dever and Susan Weaver. The menu features healthy meets delicious options, and is known for its iconic coffee and bakery counter, including signature cookies, in-house pastry favorites and our house blends from Beatrix Coffee Roasters, featuring Light, Dark, Espresso and Decaf roasts.

The food didn’t taste fresh. I had the chicken Bebe and it was hard as a rock, yet had a mushy breadcrumb coating. It tasted like it was cooked last week, left in a refrigerator, then served by reheating in a microwave. The waitress was super sweet and apologetic for something completely out of her hands. We ordered the chocolate cake and it too tasted previously frozen and served. The French fries tasted awful and looked shriveled up. The best thing I had was the coffee. I would hands down come just for coffee any day. The food, not so much….

We needed a restaurant equidistant from North Shore and Western Suburbs (Illinois) for a casual lunch with out-of-town relative. Saturday Noon reservation and the place was hopping. Choices were limited for lunch as the "Brunch Menu" was active. Service was acceptable, food was good, and prices were reasonable.

Our food was delicious. Happy hour prices kept our bill at a reasonable rate. Server was pleasant and attentive.

Sun 11:15am reservations, seated immediately. Enjoyable dining experience. Great food and service.

The ambience is very nice; upscale yet comfortable and casual. My old fashioned was perfect, with a clear ice cube as well. The service was the best. Our server (I really wish I remembered her name) was friendly, always available and laughed at my corny jokes too. Overall, a great date night with the wife. I highly recommend.

The usual fine meal at Beatrix. One gripe… You add a 3% fee to all bills for “product increases.” Either drop it altogether, or bury it in your menu pricing. At a time when stores and restaurants nationwide are now cutting prices, you go against that grain. Your menu states this 3% is optional and you can ask your server to remove it. Don’t place your patrons of being in the position of having to play the bad guy. Perhaps this is a post-Covid thing, but we know of no other restaurant that is presently doing this, and so blatantly. This really soured a fine meal.
