Beatrix is a neighborhood coffeehouse, restaurant and meeting place in Chicago’s River North, Streeterville, Fulton Market and Oak Brook neighborhoods. The restaurant is the brainchild of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises’ Founder Rich Melman, Executive Partner and Divisional President Marc Jacobs and Chef Partners John Chiakulas, Rita Dever and Susan Weaver. The menu features healthy meets delicious options, and is known for its iconic coffee and bakery counter, including signature cookies, in-house pastry favorites and our house blends from Beatrix Coffee Roasters, featuring Light, Dark, Espresso and Decaf roasts.

The ambience is very nice; upscale yet comfortable and casual. My old fashioned was perfect, with a clear ice cube as well. The service was the best. Our server (I really wish I remembered her name) was friendly, always available and laughed at my corny jokes too. Overall, a great date night with the wife. I highly recommend.

The usual fine meal at Beatrix. One gripe… You add a 3% fee to all bills for “product increases.” Either drop it altogether, or bury it in your menu pricing. At a time when stores and restaurants nationwide are now cutting prices, you go against that grain. Your menu states this 3% is optional and you can ask your server to remove it. Don’t place your patrons of being in the position of having to play the bad guy. Perhaps this is a post-Covid thing, but we know of no other restaurant that is presently doing this, and so blatantly. This really soured a fine meal.

First time here. Loved the look and vibe when you entered the restaurant. Our server, Lalo, was outstanding! He was very knowledgeable of the menu and individual food items. He was very attentive to our needs as well as kind and professional. Would definitely come back and recommend to family and friends.

Extremely disappointed. Went for lunch to use my final days of summer scratch off. We were seated and given brunch menus. We requested lunch menus (as their website says breakfast, lunch, and dinner is available during weekdays and weekend brunch was, well, on weekends). We stopped the manager who wasn’t aware that there wasn’t any information on open table or the website to alert guests seeking lunch on Friday should look elsewhere because it’s brunch only. The table next to us commented after the manager walked away that they too were not aware that it was brunch only and that they were happy I said something. Needless to say we left and went elsewhere. Perhaps next time they’ll be more transparent when they decide to change normally available menu during a weekday lunch.

We love Beatrix, but when we went for lunch on Friday, they were serving a brunch menu…on a Friday. It was going on 12:30 and we decided to finish our iced teas and go somewhere else for something others than eggs or a Caesar salad. Really disappointed in their change in menu.

We had not been here for quite awhile. It was just ok a couple years ago. Well we have definitely changed our minds. We went on a Tuesday & was able to take advantage of their happy hour in the restaurant. Half price apps & great prices on wines/cocktails. Apps were really good especially the popovers. Our server, Zoe, was great. She answered all our questions & made sure we were happy. We both had the whitefish & it was excellent. Very large piece with mashed potatoes. We are now a big fan of this restaurant and a lot has to do with Zoe. Food was wonderful too. We will be back.
