Beatrix is a neighborhood coffeehouse, restaurant and meeting place in Chicago’s River North, Streeterville, Fulton Market, The Loop and Oak Brook neighborhoods. The restaurant is the brainchild of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises’ Founder Rich Melman, Executive Partner and Divisional President Marc Jacobs and Chef Partners Andrew Ashmore, Rita Dever and Susan Weaver. The menu features healthy meets delicious options, and is known for its iconic coffee and bakery counter, including signature cookies, in-house pastry favorites and our house blends from Beatrix Coffee Roasters, featuring Light, Dark, Espresso and Decaf roasts.

I have been to Beatrix several times for brunch. However, this was my first time participating in their Happy Hour until 6pm. The service was less than desirable. Reservations were made ahead of time and my group was promptly seated. However, eight minutes passed and we were not served water and no wait staff came to our table. My group elected to sit inside. I had to get the attention of the host for her to send a waiter to the table. The waiter was also the bartender. We had to waive for him to come to the table several times to replenish our Happy Hour drinks. I was disappointed with the service because I brought coworkers from out of town to this establishment.

Everything was good except for the payment part. The waiter messed up charging our cards for two separate bills using points for my portion. After a long wait, the manager came and straightened things out, but when I asked for my receipt, she gave me a receipt that was not ours but our friends. ( I only saw it when I came home.)

We had great food at Beatrix and the overall ambiance was fantastic! Was a bit disappointed that we made reservations 6 weeks in advance for a 3-person brunch and got seated next to the kitchen. Would have thought a confirmed reservation would have taken some type of precedence.

Went here for brunch. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was quick and efficient. I had the steak and eggs and it was everything I wanted for a brunch meal. Beautiful venue. Can’t wait to come back.

At the Fulton Market location, we went Saturday night and were sitting staring at each other for 20 min before starting to desperately wave down SOMEONE to serve us at least water or take our order. When someone we flagged down got our waitress, she was totally unapologetic. We weren’t able to shake it off and enjoy our dinner, which for our income level, was an real expense for us. Two basic burgers and drinks were $90. Won’t be back. I’d rather go to the downtown location.
