BEAR Hockley is perched slap-bang in the middle of Nottingham's creative neighbourhood. With its small red frontage nestled in amongst the rainbow colours of Carlton Street, the store has a lot more to show off inside than first meets the eye. Expect light, breezy decor, cosy coffee & cocktail nooks, and (our favourite feature) a beautiful glass roof that floods the place with natural sunlight.

All staff were fantastic & polite. The food was excellent and restaurant itself was clean with a great ambience

First time visit and whilst ambiance and food was good it was let down by service especially front of house. Had booked a table and were sat down by waiter. Waited to order and no one came. Turns out you have to order at the till but no one told us. Placed order and are then told only a limited menu availably. Apparently we were told when were seated ( we weren’t). Witnessed loads of other customers suffer same fait. Bit of a mess. When food came it was good and the place itself is nice so will give them benefit of doubt and put it down to a bad day.

Food arrived after 30 mins, before our first drink order. Very slow service. My wife’s chicken burger was very overcooked and only eaten due to hunger and limited alternative venues. There appeared to be no leadership with tables not cleared.

My friend and I came on the recommendation of a family member. Definitely would recommend it to anyone to try. The lighting was a little dark for our liking but the place used to be the Boilermaker so it is lovely inside. Just one criticism from my friend was that the dessert menu was disappointing and needs work for a sweet tooth person who loves her puddings.

Made a reservation for four people for a lovely pancake brunch on Wednesday trying their special menu, but they ran out of pancakes 10 minutes into us being there. We then tried to order full english's only to find out they had run out of that too. By this point there was nothing to do but leave and find somewhere else but we had ordered drinks that we had to leave behind as we were starving, and we didn't even get them at a huge discount of for free! It was a disappointing experience by what seemed to be a poorly run cafe.

Fabulous service couldn't fault it. Food was fine but a few choices missing as it was really busy. Great atmosphere and cocktails.
