Thought we were heading to a quieter bistro type environment but it was a very loud cafe! The atmosphere was good, but the acoustics are terrible and the seating is very functional. However the food is EXCEPTIONAL and more than made up for the ambience. We had brunch and cocktails and it was simply perfect. Well cooked, high quality ingredients and presented beautifully. A little more thought into the seating layout and this place would be a little gem.

Lovely cafe in Ashbourne with excellent coffee! On this occasion the food was not as good as we would have expected. The poached egg, although the yolk was over cooked the white was under cooked! Not sure what happened there! This was left on the plate! The extra bacon ordered was not crispy, so the rind was unpleasant to eat, I left this for my husband to eat! The staff were all friendly and attentive but we were not asked if we were or had enjoyed our meal. Would recommend but would specify exactly how we would like the food cooked.

The food was nice and the drinks excellent. The staff were friendly when assistance was required but I feel that they were not really forthcoming with checking the basics, like what we needed or coming to tidy the table when we finished. We were there for a good 30 min after we finished the food and even when someone came to bring a coffee I ordered, there was no offer to clear the table. I also think that the food price is rather high for what is delivered on plastic tray for lunch.

Lovely lunch at Bear in Ashbourne. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Very attentive and friendly staff. Steak melt was excellent value for money and tasted delicious. I will be returning.

Lovely setting. Great staff. Lovely poached eggs. However, too much salt on the plate and no breakfast tea available.

We booked a table and turned up a little early. The staff were really great and our table was already ready for us. They couldn’t have been nicer. Great service - all the staff were really nice to us 👍🏼

I have tried Bear twice now, first time I thought give it another chance. Visited again and unfortunately I personally prefer a better service than I received. On entering the cafe I was left standing in front of the counter whilst 3 members of staff chatted behind the counter. I eventually excused myself interruption and asked for my table that I had booked in advance. I had to ask for our food 45 mins after it was ordered. I was told it was just being prepared. The cafe was not that full and the food finally arrived 50 mins after ordering. The food was not that warm when it arrived. Very disappointing
