Located at the "Gateway to Southtown," the Historic and Majestic Firehouse #7 is home to Battalion. After a nearly two year renovation, "The Rock" has been restored as the crown jewel of Southtown. Overlooking the spectacular downtown cityscape and the famous Tower of Americas, Battalion's contemporary design merges perfectly alongside the historic building's strong, yet weathered 1920's craftsmanship. Chef Davis has created an extensive menu of fresh pastas, char-grilled meats, stunning vegetable dishes and Italian classics. Complimenting the menu is a comprehensive wine list and a refreshingly original cocktail program.

The menu was described as family style or shared plates, despite the menu being laid out in the regular way (appetizers, pastas, meats). When the dishes came, they were all just about the size of a regular meal, so not sure why we were guided to order that way? We ended up ordering too much and had to take it home and it was definitely not inexpensive. It was also so loud that we couldn’t really have a conversation. The atmosphere was cool and the food was mostly mid to good (the ravioli was NOT). But we wouldn’t come back.

This is our third time and it was just as amazing as the first. The recipes seem a little different but delicious nonetheless. Definitely one of our favorites!!

We really enjoyed the evening and ambience of the restaurant. Don’t skip on the bread service with Ricotta and honey. What a great combination and super yummy. All of the food was really good.

We had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The service was unfortunately quite slow, which affected the overall experience. However, the food itself had some highlights. The Pear Salad was fresh and flavorful, and the Three Cheese Meatballs were enjoyable. On the downside, the Trenne Bombay pasta was a bit of a letdown. The pasta was overcooked and didn’t have much flavor, which made it feel a bit lackluster.

Server forgot our appetizer but it was an honest mistake i believe. Pasta was amazing, not al dente which we prefer but the sauce made up for it. Look forward to dining with yall again

We’ve enjoyed Battalion a few times over the years and decided to visit again. We requested to be seated upstairs as it’s quieter - good decision. We were greeted and seated in a reasonable amount of time. My wife can’t climb stairs so we asked for the elevator .. interesting experience … it’s like a forklift with glass around it only not as smooth.. gave us a little uncertainty over whether it would make it to the top 😉. We had the watermelon tomato feta salad and the Italian salad with candied hazelnuts.. both very good and the watermelon had a kick from the Fresno peppers. For the entree my wife had the halibut and I had the chicken parmigiana. Both had excellent flavors.. BUT both were overcooked. The fish was dry and the chicken was dense and hard to cut. We didn’t complain as we had great table service, but it could have been outstanding if cooked a little better. We both drank iced tea. I requested hot tea but they said they don’t have that 😐. Overall it’s a very good place, just a slight miss in entree cooking for us. We’ve always enjoyed our visits in the past and will in the future.
