Located at the "Gateway to Southtown," the Historic and Majestic Firehouse #7 is home to Battalion. After a nearly two year renovation, "The Rock" has been restored as the crown jewel of Southtown. Overlooking the spectacular downtown cityscape and the famous Tower of Americas, Battalion's contemporary design merges perfectly alongside the historic building's strong, yet weathered 1920's craftsmanship. Chef Davis has created an extensive menu of fresh pastas, char-grilled meats, stunning vegetable dishes and Italian classics. Complimenting the menu is a comprehensive wine list and a refreshingly original cocktail program.

Server forgot our appetizer but it was an honest mistake i believe. Pasta was amazing, not al dente which we prefer but the sauce made up for it. Look forward to dining with yall again

We’ve enjoyed Battalion a few times over the years and decided to visit again. We requested to be seated upstairs as it’s quieter - good decision. We were greeted and seated in a reasonable amount of time. My wife can’t climb stairs so we asked for the elevator .. interesting experience … it’s like a forklift with glass around it only not as smooth.. gave us a little uncertainty over whether it would make it to the top 😉. We had the watermelon tomato feta salad and the Italian salad with candied hazelnuts.. both very good and the watermelon had a kick from the Fresno peppers. For the entree my wife had the halibut and I had the chicken parmigiana. Both had excellent flavors.. BUT both were overcooked. The fish was dry and the chicken was dense and hard to cut. We didn’t complain as we had great table service, but it could have been outstanding if cooked a little better. We both drank iced tea. I requested hot tea but they said they don’t have that 😐. Overall it’s a very good place, just a slight miss in entree cooking for us. We’ve always enjoyed our visits in the past and will in the future.

Great service. Restaurant was not busy when we were there but food came out cold. Disappointing for the price.

We continue to have a wonderful dining experience every year we come to San Antonio and dine at the Battalion. This year the door was opened and we were greeted by a smiling face who turned out to be the General Manager Naomi. After being seated at our table, we had the pleasure of having Kelly as our server. He was funny yet professional and took very good care of us. At the end our meal we had the opportunity to talk to Naomi again. She was so gracious, friendly and genuine. But most of all the food was delicious! We had been to one of our other italian restaurants on the river walk we visit while here. There is NO comparison! Battalion takes the cake! We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back!

We haven't been back to Battalion for a few years, and it's as great as we remember. Without question the best Italian restaurant located in an old fire station anywhere! 😄 Honestly, it's really amazing. Be sure to try the warm bread with whipped ricotta and honey (OMG so good), which pairs extremely well with their spectacular three cheese beef and pork "square" meatballs, and a nice chianti. A perfect start before a few shared pastas and a meat dish from Battalion's concise yet diverse menu. Truly delicious.

We had an issue with the booking (likely my fault) and the host on the phone was FANTASTIC. Fixed no issues. Food and drinks PERFECTION. The server came asked if we wher going to the concert. Told us the time and that we should have no issues 1hr15 would be fine to be at the check. She got the whole order. Bread service came before drinks. Apologies given. Then she disappeared for over 30min. One of our party was a little miffed and she said “I’ll check on it and came right back with half the order that was apparently on the line and kind of tossed it on the table annoyed. She then said I’ll se on the other. 10 min later a person brings the second half. We had 15min to eat. She comes by and tosses the checks on the table as she passes by.
