Located at the "Gateway to Southtown," the Historic and Majestic Firehouse #7 is home to Battalion. After a nearly two year renovation, "The Rock" has been restored as the crown jewel of Southtown. Overlooking the spectacular downtown cityscape and the famous Tower of Americas, Battalion's contemporary design merges perfectly alongside the historic building's strong, yet weathered 1920's craftsmanship. Chef Davis has created an extensive menu of fresh pastas, char-grilled meats, stunning vegetable dishes and Italian classics. Complimenting the menu is a comprehensive wine list and a refreshingly original cocktail program.

Everything we ordered: salad, pasta and fish were delicious. The halibut was exceptional.

So happy that I found this place. All of their dishes are delicious and it’s very hard to go wrong when ordering here. The service and ambiance adds to the experience. I love the bread service and tiramisu!

We had a great time for date night! We went on a Saturday night at 5:15. I had read that it can get a bit noisy, and that’s why we decided to go so early since we wanted a relaxed evening. It was perfect! The olive appetizer and the bread were fantastic. We got the chicken parm and the manicotti and both were great. The s’mores panna cotta was phenomenal.

I let Battalion know ahead of time that we were celebrating our anniversary. The hostess said happy anniversary when we checked in. Other than that, you wouldn’t know we were celebrating anything special. They sat us up against the service station so we got to see and hear the dishes clanking, drinks being made. Literally that was the view. Food was barely lukewarm. Our server said entrees are big enough to be shared and served family style but….we were not given another plate to share it. We just ate off each others plates which is not kosher. Since this was our first time here, we didn’t know you could sit upstairs. You’d think being that it was a special occasion, they’d try and sit us somewhere nicer but apparently not. First and last time.

Interesting restaurant with industrial decor. The food was better than most River Walk spots and service was excellent.

Celebrating daughter’s 23rd birthday. Initially seated in very loud section on first floor in between two loud boisterous parties. Asked to me moved and was offered another table in same section. Eventually moved upstairs with other diners which was much quieter. Service was good but the table next to us was celebrating a birthday and was brought a lovely dessert with lit candle. I clearly advised in my reservation that we were celebrating a birthday but received no acknowledgment from the staff. No happy birthday, no candle, nothing. Average food, average ambiance, mediocre service. Very disappointed.
