Bata is a restaurant designed to celebrate the best our region has to offer. We cook over a live oak fire, on our custom fabricated hearth. Our menu changes daily. We mill AZ grown grain in house, daily. We focus on whole animal butchery, done in house. We have an extensive fermentation program. Our bar program largely focuses on wines that are organic, biodynamic, and produced with minimal intervention. The cocktail list highlights the best products of the season, with a carefully curated list of spirits from across the globe. We believe that our hospitality is just as important as the food and beverages we put on the table.

We do not encourage our restaurant for young children. We do not have any highchairs in house and ask that you please bring your own if it is required.

We do not offer any outdoor seating. Private dining, kitchen counter and large party seating available. Email hello@batatucson.com for inquiries.

    Food experience versus cost of meal does not make sense. A nearly $300 meal with only one glass of wine for 3 people and we left hungry. It was no where close to a wow. The food was simply ok and they had terrible deserts. How can one screw up deserts .

    My husband and I eat here at least three times every year. One of us is vegan and the other a pescatarian. While we enjoy most of the food, there have been fewer and fewer plant based dishes. Neither of the two bread items are vegan and there is generally very little starch to accompany the dishes. None of the three desserts were vegan and although our waiter said they could make one of them vegan, it was delivered to us with a meringue wafer on top without telling us until we asked that it was made with eggs. They did apologize and offered to remake but at that point we were ready to go. We have eaten at wonderful plant-forward restaurants in DC, NYC, and Vancouver in the last six months and BATA is falling behind. Not sure when we will return.

    Disappointed. I really wanted to like this restaurant. Found it by searching "farm to table" and there weren't many in Tucson. Ordered chefs menu. Vegetable starters were great. Very creative. Then came a surprise chefs main: beef kebab. Looked and smelled great however it was impossible to bite or chew it. It was very tough with a lot of connective tissues. This kind of cut should've been cooked low and long to break the tissues. We sent it back and got pork bellies on waitress recommendations. It was impossibly salty. Inedible. Didn't want to complain again so we just asked for it to be packed to go. Came home and threw it away. :( This restaurant cannot cook meat. Maybe if we ordered fish we would've been happy, however we followed chefs menu and did not have a choice. We will not go back to try a fish dish.

    This was our first time at Bata, we really loved it. We tried the chefs tasting menu, that while expensive for Tucson, would be a good deal in any major city. The ambience felt like the Pacific Northwest, and the farm to table food was uniquely prepared. Would definitely recommend!

    This is a hip, interesting restaurant. Food is unusual. Some of the dishes we had were better than others. The desserts were outstanding. Wine by the glass was limited and odd choices, we thought. Noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation with our friends. Really caters to the younger crowd. As an older couple, we enjoyed the experience but would probably not return.

    I'm vegan and I love it. One squash plate came with lentils so protein combo. I wish server had mentioned you could eat the squash wo peeling it. The kale arugula squash strips was wonderful, one of the mushroom dishes was spectacular and one was very skinny. We were two and seated at a table not a booth, yay!

    For a special occasion, Bata gets my highest recommendation. If you're a foodie like me, you'll enjoy an exquisite journey with your palette and, truly, all of your senses! The food is fabulous - complex and beautifully presented, the wait staff incredibly patient and accommodating, the noise level (at full capacity) moderate, and the general ambience elegantly simple. All three of my visits over the years, have made me smile, broadly!

    I was blown away by how creative and delicious everything was. Seriously. I eat out a lot and look for the best. Definitely found it here. The wine list, while not extensive was very well curated. The charred eggplant and the mushroom skewer were sensational. But the smoked pumpkin cake with white chocolate mousse, dark chocolate, poached apple and miso caramel was on another level entirely, just out of this world. Five stars no question.
