Now located in Chappaqua, Weschester County NY, Basso56 serves freshly prepared Italian fare with a subtle modern twist. Everything was delicious. Excellent carpaccio special My husband enjoyed the lamb chops and my Branzinoo was cooked Perfect. The portions were a generous size Will definitely return.

Outstanding Italian cuisine in a beautiful setting. Wait staff is excellent, host is friendly and welcoming. Food is to die for. Nice to find a restaurant done the right way.

Totally enjoyed our experience. Loved both the burrata prosciutto appetizer and my swordfish livornaise. Would order both again. We sat towards the back and it was quiet and we could all talk and hear each other. It’s a pretty restaurant. We will go back and I recommend it.

This was our first time dining at Basso and were really let down. We are local and really wanted to like it, but unfortunately there isn’t much good to talk about. Service was fine, nothing special. There were only 4 or 5 tables when we got there and they jammed us right in the middle of them. I worked in restaurants for many years and understand seating and sections, but I even made a comment about crowding us together and the guy just chuckled. I always judge on whether or not servers notice my soda was running low when our food comes. She didn’t, never asked if I wanted more and always ran away before I could ask for another. The restaurant looks nice enough but the food was the big issue. We started with the calamari. The pieces were too big, too rubbery, and the batter was just off. No seasoning anywhere. The texture was too crunchy, too mealy and was very unpleasant in your mouth. My wife couldn’t eat it, and she was starving. The chicken parm was edible. It was cooked well but the chicken itself had a weird texture. Red sauce and cheese on top were ok. The homemade spaghetti side with it, wasn’t bad. Al dente and smothered with the red sauce. No finesse anywhere on the plate and just slopped on with sauce. In comparison to everything else though, the spaghetti wasn’t horrible. We also had the fettuccini bolognese special. If I closed my eyes, I wouldn’t have guessed it was a bolognese and had no depth of flavor like a proper one should. Tasted only tomato sauce with a touch of rosemary, which was odd. Saw the meat but couldn’t taste it. I haven’t had a bolognese at Olive Garden, but I suspect even they would have a more authentic and tastier version. We had an earlier dinner and by the time we were leaving at 6:30 on a Saturday, it wasn’t crowded. I suspect that might not just be because it was early and points to a bigger issue. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Unless they fix the food, it isn’t worth your time.

We’ve been Basso fans for over 20 years, since they started on the Lower East Side! The Basso team continues to impress and deliver. A truly great Italian restaurant with consistent quality and attention to detail. I have recommended Basso to dozens of friends and business associates and I’ll continue to do so.

I was disappointed. The reviews suggested an exceptional experience but overall it was just an average Italian Restaurant. I will note the service was excellent and the noise level very good. But otherwise I see no reason to recommend.
