Here at Basset Down, we’re proud to offer excellent service in a location like no other. Based in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, we’re a family run destination for everyone to visit, for occasions large and small.

Our experienced head chef has now taken centre stage in our new restaurant, which is now open to the public throughout the week. It's modern design and informal atmosphere is complimented by seasonal menus with locally sourced produce. Perfect if you’re looking for an ideal spot for lunch with friends, a day out, celebrating a special occasion or swinging by for a quick drink. We also have a selection of homemade cakes, snacks and hot/cold drinks available throughout the day.

I’ve had breakfast here in last month and it was hot & service was excellent but it wasn’t overly busy and you had more staff on. Today the hash browns were forgotten on all 4 meals, they were luke warm but food nice just a shame. No one checked on us once food had been delivered. Weird white gunk on bacon. You could tell it was really busy but friend I came with may not visit again which is a shame. I did bring to their attention once I realised we was missing hash browns but at this point we’d eaten breakfast. The girl didn’t seem interested and said oh sorry but let the person know whose bringing your bill and they’ll sort it’s Our second lot of drinks were taken off bill but it was only hot drinks we had.

Normally love coming to Bassett down for food. The food is lovely but my goodness the steak is expensive for what you get. However today it was the 1 hr wait for our food that was difficult to tolerate and I'm afraid has quite put me off returning which is a shame as the staff are second to none however I think the incredibly large christmas party put a strain on the usual impeccable service, management should not try to cram so many diners in, they should accept bookings for what they can manage, greedy management

Very busy today, had to wait a long time for dinner, the staff lovely, friendly and helpful but it just so busy today and I have not experienced waiting like this on Previous visits. Also was not aware that we would have to have 2 courses today, had I known I wouldn't have booked. Very expensive Sunday lunch!

We went on Sunday and it was very busy. Our drinks order was taken very quickly followed by our choice of two courses. Two people in our party had starters but we had a very long wait before our main course was served. The food for the adults when it arrived was hot and delicious though the beef was a little too rare! We ordered a children's meal for our grandchild which unfortunately had too much salt in the chips which surprised us as we felt there should have been no salt. Our first time visiting for Sunday lunch and would consider returning at some point.

Probably shouldn’t have booked a table for two so close to Christmas. Non-Christmas menu was limited and it was very noisy.

Always good here. A nice brunch - salmon and poached eggs, and spinach and poached eggs, with coffee and tea. Very nice food quality and presentation. Thanks.
