Here at Basset Down, we’re proud to offer excellent service in a location like no other. Based in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, we’re a family run destination for everyone to visit, for occasions large and small.

Our experienced head chef has now taken centre stage in our new restaurant, which is now open to the public throughout the week. It's modern design and informal atmosphere is complimented by seasonal menus with locally sourced produce. Perfect if you’re looking for an ideal spot for lunch with friends, a day out, celebrating a special occasion or swinging by for a quick drink. I thought the service was poor,staff disappeared so couldn’t order more drinks and had to approach the bar to find someone to pay my bill!!!

Went here for a Sunday lunch to celebrate an anniversary. The staff were very friendly and helped us when we asked to move to a different table. The food is delicious but unfortunately the chicken that we ordered was lukewarm. I did inform the staff straight away but said I would eat it as I was hungry. They apologised and told the chef. They also gave us some complimentary cauliflower cheese, I assume to make up for the chicken. Overall I would go again as the food was very tasty and the staff were good so I appreciated that.

The food was first class with fantastic service without doubt one of the best places to eat in Swindon .

I was impressed with the new breakfast menu. The restaurant was quite busy which affected the speed of service slightly.

Always wonderful to sit, chill, chat & dine with good friends. Staff always very attentive. food delicious. Lovely & clean.

Slightly slow service despite the restaurant being quiet. My friend and I ordered poached eggs on toast which were slightly over cooked. Asked for another small cup of Americano after the breakfast took ages to come then arrived in a big mug.

The roast was lovely, however we did have some pink bits in our chicken. The waiting staff were very quick and very helpful.
