Here at Basset Down, we’re proud to offer excellent service in a location like no other. Based in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, we’re a family run destination for everyone to visit, for occasions large and small.

Our experienced head chef has now taken centre stage in our new restaurant, which is now open to the public throughout the week. It's modern design and informal atmosphere is complimented by seasonal menus with locally sourced produce. Perfect if you’re looking for an ideal spot for lunch with friends, a day out, celebrating a special occasion or swinging by for a quick drink. We also have a selection of homemade cakes, snacks and hot/cold drinks available throughout the day.

Lovely Sunday lunch. Plenty of meat and a huge Yorkshire pudding but definitely not enough vegetables served with it a tiny portion of cauliflower cheese and one broccoli stem peas and a little cabbage. Very Expensive but tasty and nice for a treat. Drinks also expensive but I guess the surroundings is the reason.

Friendly, attentive, and efficient service. However, the food fell short of expectations on this occasion. It wasn’t quite up to the usual standard, but I’m confident this was just an off day. I’ll definitely be back as the overall experience was still positive!

Another amazing experience. Yet again the food was absolutely delicious. This is the best Sunday roast around, and probably our favourite restaurant having eaten here a few times.

We had a very nice brunch. There’s a good choice on the menu for vegetarians. The food was tasty and well presented and good portions. The restaurant was a very pleasant place to eat. Would definitely go there again.

Lovely venue and good food. Due to being very busy, we waited over 30 minutes for our food.

I thought the service was poor,staff disappeared so couldn’t order more drinks and had to approach the bar to find someone to pay my bill!!!

Went here for a Sunday lunch to celebrate an anniversary. The staff were very friendly and helped us when we asked to move to a different table. The food is delicious but unfortunately the chicken that we ordered was lukewarm. I did inform the staff straight away but said I would eat it as I was hungry. They apologised and told the chef. They also gave us some complimentary cauliflower cheese, I assume to make up for the chicken. Overall I would go again as the food was very tasty and the staff were good so I appreciated that.
