Basil in Medfield, MA is a popular neighborhood restaurant that offers quality American fare along with some Italian style dishes. Each season, the owner and chef, Tom McGue, works to change the menu to provide guests with interesting and unique flavors. The eatery offers a comfortable atmosphere with three types of dining experiences available including fine dining, casual dining and private dining. Basil also offers takeout.

Basil also offers daily specials that reflect the market's best offerings, while supplementing their already expansive menu. From tried-and-true favorites like Chicken Parmesan and Veal Picatta to hearty favorites like Slow Roasted Duckling and Sirloin Au Poivre, Basil truly has the answer to any craving.

This is one of our very favorite restaurants and it pains me to write this. In all of our numerous visits, this is the first time we have been disappointed and hope this is not a new trend. My husband’s favorite appetizer is Escargot and it is one of the reasons for going there, especially considering that they have always prepared this so well. The reservoirs that hold the snails were either completely dry or minimal liquid. The snails were essentially tasteless. For the Clams Casino, the clam meat was not chopped and stuffed but rather whole clams with stuffing sprinkled on top with a piece of bacon. We dine frequently and have done so all over the world. We never experienced Clams Casino prepared this way, nor at this restaurant in the past. New chef? Another favorite here is the Duckling which typically consists of a breast with leg attached. Instead, we received two legs, one of which was overcooked and dry. The other leg was fine. Au Gratin potatoes were fabulous as were the sautéed spinach, mashed sweet potatoes and mixed vegetables. Service was wonderful. We hope this experience was just an anomaly and that our next visit is back to what we have traditionally loved.

Basil. Is by far my one of my favorite restaurants. We brought a find from Montreal who was equally impressed.

We had reservations and arrived 15 minutes early when the restaurant opened so there were plenty of open tables. One member of the group was cold and requested that our table be somewhere warm. The hostess sat us at a table diagonally across from the door. As the dinner crowd grew, the door was opened numerous times and, at one point, was held open by patrons which made it uncomfortably cold. We weren’t sure if the air conditioning also contributed to the cool temperature because wait staff and the hostess kept adjusting the thermostat. The noise level of the patrons impacted the ambiance rating we selected, but that is something the restaurant cannot control. The restaurant was clean and nicely appointed. On a very positive note, and definitely two of the most important areas for consideration, the food was excellent and the service was absolutely outstanding. We will definitely return but will request a table in a different section.

Per usual the food was amazing. The service from Kendra was incredible , Linda per usual was working hard and always accommodating. This is our favorite place.❤️

Basil is always excellent. Good food and service in comfortable setting. The kitchen messed up in sending our order for one of the last orders of swordfish to someone else but this things happen. I missed out on the meatloaf special by coming one day too late (best meatloaf ever if it’s on the daily special). We’ll be back soon. Keep up the good work.

First time eating at basils definitely a worthwhile place to go great atmosphere and an awesome food a little pricey and very load when it’s a packed restaurant
