The food was fantastic and the staff was extremely kind and accommodating. They were also very knowledgeable when we had questions. I would definitely recommend it!

One of our favorites. Exceptional food which is always consistent and high quality. They do a great job with their bar as well and service is friendly and attentive.

I had never eaten Indian food so I was unsure about the restaurant. Our server was wonderful. She explained all the choices in the menu- what was spicy or not; she made good recommendations. The food was outstanding and the ambiance was amazing. Pricing was appropriate for the wonderful meal we had.

Basant is, by far, our favorite Indian spot in Chicago. Every aspect of the experience is exceptional: warm, friendly service; inventive cocktails; beautiful ambiance; and, most importantly, food that is clearly prepared with love and deep expertise. I know there are a lot of options but, when we want the best, we always choose Basant.

This food made my wife love Indian food - she would never try it before. We sat outside and had such a lovely time.

Ate outside on the sidewalk — very cute. Delicious food. We had Malai Kofta, which was not very exciting, but the grilled lamb chop appetizer was very flavorful.

Food tasted fresh and 'home-made' and the service was friendly. We were there quite early, so the whole place was pretty empty. Service was alright. Attentive, but still looked bored. Would've been nice to see more Indian people working at an Indian restaurant. Not that it's a requirement, but it helps sell authenticate the food. Food also could've been a little spicier, and the chicken was a little dry. For the price, the food was fantastic, but the ambience / service could've been better. Overall, 4/5 - would recommend if someone wants to try good Indian food in Chicago.
