I would not recommend this restaurant. For the price the value in the food is just not there. I ordered the duck, and it wasn't a full duck breast. It was three pieces of breast on top of a lot of rice and a lot of sauce. (C'est bien Thai around the corner has a duck and green bean dish that has more duck at a fraction of the price.) The plantain was like 1/6 of a plantain and it was not fully cooked. (It was supposed to be caramelized.). The lamb meatballs left much to be desired. The fat wasn't well distributed and the sauce had an antiseptic quality. We were also disappointed in the cocktails. They seemed so interesting on the menu but just didn't pop. (I also think they could have used brick ice cubes but that's just a preference in terms of not watering down the drink and visual appeal.) The best dish was an app, Chicken Malai Cilantro. The lentils side was ok but again, would have been just as good at a take out place at a lower price. We left feeling like we didn't get the quality that we paid for.

Basant was great. We were running late and they accommodated us so well. The food was great and from what I heard the cocktails were too. We will definitely be back!

Basant Modern was a wonderful place to dine. We went here off of a friends recommendation and it did not disappoint. The restaurant was in a neighborhood close to ours. The inside was clean, comfortable, and chic with beautiful mandalas painted on the wall. The staff were efficient, friendly, and helpful.
