Everything about Bas Rouge is perfection. The ambience is warm and elegant. Food and service always impeccable. Lunch or dinner, the attention to detail is superb.

This is one of the best restaurants on the East Coast. The restaurant is an elegant, French-inspired dining experience. The service is impeccable from when you enter the restaurant to when you leave and are thanked for dining. And then there is the food. The kitchen is a tour de force of elegant French dishes utilizing fresh local products creatively. You do not eat quickly at Bas Rouge because, after your first taste, you want to savor all the following flavors.

What a treat to dine at Bas Rouge. The service was so attentive to every need. The food was delicious, creative and artfully presented. Dining at Bas Rouge is a splurge, but oh so worth it. I had a dining experience I'll remember and brag about for years. Can't wait for another occasion to go. By the way, I was a solo female diner, and I was never condescended to. Bravi to all of the staff and to the lauded chef for their achievement.

Bas Rouge is very pricey, but I knew that going in. It was a 2 hour drive for me to get to the restaurant but well worth it. We met friends there as a half way point for getting together. The service was outstanding, as was the food. The chicken was the best anyone had ever had. The lamb was cooked to perfection. The pasta was delicious, although the purchaser of that item wished she had chosen another after tasting the other dishes. We all got the 3 course fixed menu and that was more than enough. The deserts and breads were also outstanding. The service was even better than the food. It seemed like the maitre d and the entire staff were french and they were so attentive that our needs were met before we even knew we had them. Try it.

Service was impeccable and food was delicious. The ambiance was comfortable yet elegant. It is five stars, the cost is extravagant as well. Loved it, but probably a one time experience due to cost, or perhaps a rare special occasion.

The food here is very good! I can certainly see why the chef won a James beard this year. Our server was also very nice and provided excellent service. However, the rest of the staff was very stuffy and rather unwelcoming. The sommelier didn’t even look at me when presenting my wine pairings and did not interact at all besides just describing the wine. The wine pairings came out so quickly that at one point I had 3 drinks in front of me. It felt rushed and the service felt rather militant in its coordination, which for the most part is good. You’re always taken care of but felt fast and cold, like they’re just trying to get you out of there. And when you’re paying as much as this place cost, you don’t want to be rushed. While the food was very good, I have eaten at places with food that is AS good with a much more welcoming and friendly atmosphere for almost half the price. P.S. the dress code is hidden on the website - a small asterisk under the reservations section. If they’re going to be as uppity about the dress code as they were, then it should be much more visible/easier to find on the website.

Both the food and the service were outstanding. We loved the ceviche, gazpacho, bread options, sea scallops and desserts. The service could not have been more attentive. The Australian pinot noir suggested by the sommelier paired well with our entrees. My only complaint is the table at which we were seated. It was against a service counter at which staff undertook multiple tasks. Given that other tables were available when we arrived and were still empty when we left, I do not understand the placement.
