Barrows House Restaurant is an American gastropub with a modern twist on traditional New England tavern fare that pairs great food with craft beers. Our menus and beverages showcase Vermont’s abundance of local products and celebrate its farms and producers. These quality ingredients are simply prepared demonstrating classic culinary techniques offering guests uncomplicated seasonal tastes of Vermont. Set against the historic backdrop of a circa 1803 building, the ambiance is at once warm and welcoming, sophisticated yet casual featuring Dorset white marble accents and historic black & white photos from the local Norcross-West Marble Quarry, one of the oldest in the country. Took 1/2 hour to get the first drink. Absolutely the worst Old Fashioned I have ever had. Bartender literally filled the glass with SPARKLING water. I should have sent it back. Dinner was excellent.

Absolutely delicious! My husband had the pork chop and I had the diver scallops, both were wonderful!

Enjoyed Barrows House as I have for many years. However, the 2 piece band was TOO LOUD! It was annoying & made it difficult to have a conversation at the dinner table. They should lower the volume! It sounded like I was at a concert. They even encouraged diners to sign along with them. Whatever happened to dinner music? Perhaps Steve & Lauren should have dinner outside when that band plays again!! I will not be back at Barrows as long as that band music continues to be so loud.

Beautiful location just outside the village of Dorset. We had a patio table on a perfect late summer evening. The food was 5 star. The steak tartar was one of the best I have had. Served with a bone marrow side. The scallops and risotto were perfection. The duck breast was also excellent. The profiterole for dessert was okay. The pastry was fine but the cream filling was too much for me. I would have preferred the Wilson Dairy ice cream my wife enjoyed. Excellent cocktails and wine selection. Service was the only disappointment. Did not match the food or atmosphere. We were celebrating our 50 th wedding anniversary which I noted on the reservation. Not one of the personnel mentioned this. I didn’t expect a brass band but an acknowledgement would have been nice. The service was slow and erratic. The entire staff appeared overwhelmed. I admit it was a busy evening but that isn’t an excuse. Our server admitting forgetting our wine order when I was finally able to flag her down as we were finishing our entrees. Otherwise a great evening.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first time here. Everybody’s food was outstanding. The service was outstanding and the outdoor seating was perfect for the weather.!

It was our anniversary and once again barrow’s house came through with a spectacular meal! The cocktails were delicious and I loved the my appetizers and entree. My husband had a wonderful steak and the Brussel sprouts.In spite of a sudden rain shower our server on the outdoor patio did a marvelous job!
