Arepas

We wash, cook and grind the corn to then make each arepa by hand, making it a tedious three day process. Oh yeah and if that wasn't hard enough, we also make each arepa square-shaped on purpose just to prove its authenticity. Arepas are white corn tortillas from colombia and venezuela, these are grilled, then stuffed with a variety of ingredients. We at barroco are one of the last remaining establishments who still make arepas like back in the day (pre-columbian back in the day, that is) $16

We had a reservation and were seated outside. We were being swarmed by yellow jacket bees and asked if we could move inside and the first time we asked we were told no. When we got our food we were swarmed by even more yellow jackets and were moved to the inside after we asked again

The food was outstanding and the selection of items was vast. Great evening-long, weekday-specific drink specials were a definite plus. Service was fast, friendly and very helpful.

Really want to love this place but I didn't really enjoy the food and service. The vibe is fantastic and it's a great space but the staff is clearly overstretched and every dish ranged from good to meh.

Our 4th visit here and not our last. It's one of our favorite spots when visiting from Chicago. There are foodies in my group and they all give it a thumbs up. Mojitos amazing, my go to is Coconut!

Barroco is one of my favorite restaurants in Cleveland. The food is usually amazing, but I think that they do not have enough servers and it was very chaotic—-our tortilla chips and tostones tasted a bit stale, our drinks tasted like straight bourbon with none of the mixers, one of the five meals was forgotten and no one mentioned it, our server just disappeared until it was ready. Our server said they had a table of 30 people and that’s why he was never around, which was really unfair to us. Overall, the worst experience we’ve had at barroco. While our entrees were amazing, the service was terrible and I felt bad for our server, as the management is to blame. I hope the management figures out better how to organize their staff and provide better service.

We had an amazing meal at Barroco. The cocktails were perfect - beginning with the tequila shots when we first walked in — and the food was delicious.

We had a party of 10, our service was FANTASTIC! Complementary shot of tequila on entrance, all book through open table, they called us and asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside…for a party of 10! The service was 100% spot on. We brought cupcakes (we asked ahead)….when we got there they offered to put them in the fridge for us!!! Only negative? For a party of 10 the Bench against the wall was a small bench to sit on, so even though all five guests had room to the table, they were uncomfotable. Not enough to not come back AT ALL, just a note. Music was loud, but it’s energetic! We had a GREAT TIME! 10/10 honestly!
