Barley & Boar is a cozy boutique pub located in downtown Atascadero. We distill our own liquor, brew our own beer, and craft our own delicious fare from fresh and local ingredients. Dinner is full service, and our bar is open until midnight.

Join us monthly as we change our menu to showcase what’s in season.

Always great food starting with the bread & butter and the ribs. The Beef was spectacular this evening and as always the service was excellent.

The food was amazing!! We ordered the ribs as an appetizer and they were by far the best ribs I’ve had! We sat at the kitchen counter and always enjoy watching the cooks. They definitely know what they are doing! Our server was nice, but she never cleaned up our empty plates and glasses so we had to move things to make room for the main course. After dinner we sat out back and enjoyed a drink before we left. We try to make it in at least once a month. Best restaurant in Atascadero!!

Five stars for the food. Between 4 of us we consumed the fried green tomatoes, the ribs, salad, the burger, the Boar and the salmon. Oh and the bread pudding dessert. We drank 2 beers, an Aperol spritz, a great glass of white wine, 4 tequila cocktails and 2 bottles of Evian still. Tap water in Atascadero is a no no. Now for the service. Ten stars and a huge kiss 😘 to Darcy the wonder girl. Hey I'm old enough to call her a girl so get a reservation and have a great dinner!

Sat at the kitchen counter. Wonderful experience watching them work to prepare all the delicious dishes. Chef prepared a special surprise starter for us too! Food was amazing, beautifully presented. Wait staff are attentive but not intrusive.

This was our first time and we loved it! Great food and our server Emmarie was friendly, knowledgeable, and gave great menu and drink suggestions. The Golden Goblet drink was delicious! It was an excellent dining experience and we will definitely be coming back!

We tried Barley & Boar based on a friends recommendation and experience. We reserved our "Standard" table for a Tuesday night with OpenTable. Located in Atascadero this is a nice addition to the options for dining out in North County, however, it underwhelmed. On the positive side our server was friendly, attentive and we enjoyed her service. Also, the bar atmosphere was sophisticated and we enjoyed checking out the various internal seating options - bar, food bar area, standard seating and out doors. We started with the B&B home brew beers. I had the IPA and this was very good - had a second one just to make sure. My wife had heard that the fried green tomatoes were outstanding and that's why we came to the Barley and Boar. Unfortunately this dish was NOT on the menu - it was out of season. What? August is still the season for tomatoes in North County - I can provide them tubs of green tomatoes from my farm garden. Unfortunately not available tonight even though featured on "The Burger" so they had some green tomatoes. Disappointment #1. For starters we shared the "Ahi Crudo" made with seasonal melon, yuzu, chile, cucumber for $26. No taste or texture whatsoever to our surprise because we hoped this would be great so we could reconstruct it at home from our garden. Disappointment #2. We had "The Burger"and"The Bay" The Burger is a $30 petite hamburger with wagyu beef as the cornerstone along with boar bacon, mushrooms, that out of season now fried green tomatoes, sauce and cheese. It was a very good hamburger and very tasty yet a very small appetizer sized burger for $30. The Bay was California yellowtail with garnishes for $44. The yellow tail was cooked perfectly but the combination of the fish and all the garnishes skewed the taste to the garnish and did not highlight the fish. Disappointment #3. This was not a typical bar venue nor price points. We spent $174 for three beers, an appetizer and two Mains. Disappointment #4. I don't think we will be going back.

My family and I love this restaurant. We have been there several times. I was there yesterday and had their hamburger for the first time. It was delicious!!!!

We love this restaurant! It is literally the best food… I don’t know that I’ve ever had anything. I didn’t love… The service is amazing. Darcy is always upbeat and friendly and helpful. The food is so outstanding… I wish I could eat there every day. Right now the ribs, appetizer and steak skewers are just unbelievable… Not to mention the bread plate is always an absolute must! And that hamburger they have right now… With the homemade fries and dipping sauce… Lord have mercy give me more! I struggle with writing this review because it just means more people will be there, which means harder to get in because seats are limited… But I have to give kudos when they are deserved. Cheers!
