Barbara is a lively Italian restaurant inspired by the rustic tradition of Roman pizzerie, opening in San Francisco’s historic Italian district of North Beach in September 2018 to serve as the neighborhood destination for casual dinning. We feature an energetic open kitchen, creating fresh takes on classics as well as original inventions showcasing seasonal and local ingredients, transporting taste of the eternal city to San Francisco. We offer craft cocktails, Italian and Californian wines, indoor and outdoor seating, and Barbara's fun, warm, style pairs well with the restaurant’s classic Italian comfort and friendly spirit.

The food and service is always good. The background music was a bit loud throughout dinner. The time when it was loud and should have been loud was when we celebrated a birthday which was really fun. In general the music could be brought down a touch

The food was delicious and the service during the first part of our dinner was great. Unfortunately we were rushed out right at closing time, with one of the workers coming to the table and stating “we have to go home”. This was only 15 minutes after closing when we were finishing up food and a bottle of wine.

We dined during the Italian Heritage Parade. The attentiveness of our server during this busy time was commendable. Even though they had a limited special menu, they allowed our granddaughters to order a Margarita pizza which wasn't being offered. That was appreciated.I had the Burrata & Pesto Pinsa. The pesto sauce paired nicely with the roasted tomatoes and burrata. It was a real treat.

Had the prosciutto pinsa and the delicious Brussels sprout chips. Bottle of wine. Delicious.

Had an early dinner with family before seeing Dear San Francisco. We were seated upon arrival. Staff was very attentive. Food was average. There was nothing in the memorable in the sauces.

There was no point in booking a reservation as when we arrived we were told that “everyone has a table” and were told to sit at the bar to eat with three bar stools even though we were a party of four. We then finally got a table but outside under an extremely loud speaker and when we asked for it to be turned down, we were told no. The food was basic and not the best, the only positive thing about that restaurant was the location which is why it’s crowded, not because of the quality of food and service. I would HIGHLY recommend to NOT eat there.

I had a good time dining at this pinseria. Good food and wine, ample portions, and solid service. I would love to go back and try other items on the menu.
