This is Greece.

Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

Awesome meal what stood it was the service, our waiter explained all the choices well and gave some great wine recommendations. Food was really good, very worth

We sampled many items and all were delicious esp the lamb chops and eggplant entrees. The vegetable platter was huge and very good. Our server was fantastic- explained the dishes and spices, gave good recommendations on how much to order. Perfect! Looking forward to our next visit.

This is a great restaurant that I have been to twice now, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. I rated Ambiance a 4 because we were at a patio table, which is in the middle of the sidewalk with no separation from pedestrians. Either a fence or planters or something would make a difference, however I acknowledge that this could make it even tighter for people trying to use the sidewalk. Also the ground was uneven so my chair was a lot lower than the table; it wasn't the most comfortable. While it's certainly not Bar Vlaha's responsibility to maintain the sidewalk, they could pay attention to the placement of furniture to make sure it's comfortable for guests. Just a piece of constructive feedback. However, the food is outstanding, and I am a pretty picky person. I always get the grilled rainbow trout, and it is delicious (butterflied and deboned).

I went in with zero expectations of this restaurant and had a wonderful dining experience. Our server was amazing with recommendations on wine and food. The shareable plates were delicious, highly recommend the fried mushrooms, dolmades and saganaki. Also, the grilled lamb chops and chicken were out of this world. was great to sit at the chefs bar and catch up with a friend over awesome food and good drinks.

Terrific!!! Staff were extremely friendly, efficient and attentive. Food was fantastic! Great ambiance and super clean!

This review relates to brunch menu which was quite limited in options and tastes. Be aware going for lunch there.
