Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

We had a lovely meal to celebrate a birthday. Our server was excellent and gave us a lovely birthday surprise. The food was really delicious. Definitely will be back!

Delicious brunch in a convivial atmosphere! This was a first visit for brunch for two couples. What we hoped would be an outdoor meal became an indoor meal (due to weather) at the bar. We ordered Strapasada, Siuvla and Sfougato, all egg themed dishes with wonderful additions and spices and delicious toasted Greek bread. The coffee was also very good. Our waiter at the bar was kind and knowledgeable, answering our questions and paying just the right amount of attention to us. As a satisfied dinner customer, it's not surprising that brunch was also excellent. We'll be back.

I was very excited to try Bar Vlaha and it had been on my list for a long time. I’m so sad to say that I was disappointed! We split three spreads (the whipped feta, eggplant, and fava bean), the fried oyster mushrooms, dill salad, lemon potatoes, and the lamb chops. The lamb chops were delicious, but that was really the only dish I loved and it wasn’t an inexpensive meal (not great value). The ambiance was really sweet and I wanted to love this place more, but it doesn’t match up to my other favorite Greek restaurants in the area. I don’t think I would return :/

Amazing food ambiance and service. The one weird thing was we ordered dips and had to pay $6 for bread to go with it. I wondered how they expected us to eat the dips. Also it wasn't enough bread and they said it was an extra charge for another piece of bread. Other than that a perfect time.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful! Had Greek negroni and grilled trout and everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Such warm people and atmosphere. Thank you!

We had such a phenomenal experience. The moment we entered the restaurant, the vibe and everyone who worked there were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was exceptional. Highly recommend it for any occasion or no occasion at all!
