Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

The patio was basically the street, which is slanted because it is on a hill, so it was not the most ideal location for eating.

I have been to Bar Vlaha twice in the past 2 weeks. Once for a boys night and once for e birthday date night with my wife. Here are my thoughts: First, the location is great because parking is easy, the size is accommodating of more guests, and that makes being able to get a resy so much easier. The venue itself is super cute and fun looking with nice open feel and love being able to see the kitchen per usual. Beautiful bar in the middle which I would like to sit at and eat soon. The wine and cocktails were awesome with a great selection of high quality Greek wines. Favorites so far are the Atma Acertico and the Biblio Choro blend (acertico/chard). The food…OMG the food!!! So far I’ve had the starting dips with the sourdough, incredible and the eggplant is just amazing and smokey and great. Tzatziki is killer and the whipped feta will have you eating it off a knife once you run out of bread…or just ask for more bread and they’ll gladly bring it. The eel bruschetta was delcious and fresh and amazing. The crispy fried oyster mushrooms might be one of my favorite dishes ever. The fresh and salty sauce on the crispy chewy mushroom… 😋 The boys and I had the boar and the lamb shoulder (both recommended by Andrés) and they were FIRE!! Lamb shoulder won that battle for sure, but maybe we were just getting full at that point. And in my honest opinion, the boar was a little too salty. My wife and I had the lamb chops and the beef cheeks (both recommended by Jorge)…HOLY S$&@!!! Best lamb chop I’ve ever eaten. So tender, so juicy, perfectly salted, and the pickled onion is a great touch to accompany the meat without overpowering it. And the beef cheeks were literally like butter melting in your mouth (Jorge’s words but he was right). Finished with the custard filo dessert and instead of the pumpkin ice cream we went with the olive oil ice cream…perfection and a great size. Just enough to satisfy the sweet tooth without putting you over top full. Can’t wait to go back!!

Wonderful food and service. Multiple vegetarian options for my party and very accommodating when we had an emergency that changed our plans. Would recommend to anyone, their wild greens pie is fabulous.

Best meal I’ve had in a restaurant in a long time. Fantastic service, incredible food. We will be back!! Highly recommend the fried oyster mushrooms and lamp chops.

Lovely atmosphere. Very well prepared foods from Northern Greece. We chose a wonderful array that were all delicious! Second time here and can’t wait to come back.

Our server was very nice and friendly. The food was awful. Ice cold bread , lamb overcooked , potatoes and domadas burnt. Tastes were so bad we barely touched our food.

Went here with a large group for a birthday and the food was wonderful as always! Chris, our server, was absolutely fantastic and really went the extra mile to make the night incredibly special.
