This is Greece.

Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

Amazing food and amazing service. We took our servers recommendations and they were all great. The spreads, especially the cheese based ones were delicious, we got all 6. The wild boar dish was to die for. Fried mushrooms were also amazing. Definitely was better to have the bigger group to order several things to try. We all left very full and very happy.

The service was stellar. The family style serving excellent and the food outstanding. Everyone had an opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of tastes and the preparations were perfect. Dimitri, our waiter, was knowledgeable and helped us make a wonderful selection. He, also, chose a wine that set off the food beautifully.

Bar Vlaha is always our go-to celebration spot, this time was for our 8th wedding anniversary. As always, the restaurant was very accommodating (we had our toddler with us), the food was innovative and still authentic to its roots (my family is from one of the regions of Greece from which this cuisine originates), and the service was incredible and very hospitable (thanks to Kelly and Andreas - a fellow Epirote!), where it felt like we were back in Greece. Our experiences here are always like this, and it keeps us coming back again and again for every celebration. I can't recommend Bar Vlaha enough.

Great experience all around. The food was delicious, service was attentive and friendly, and ambiance was warm and welcoming. I went for a group birthday dinner, and they brought over complimentary shots at the end of the night which was totally unnecessary, but such a nice touch. Highly recommend! Will definitely be back again soon!

We had a wonderful dinner for my husband's bday. Graham was the best server we've ever had anywhere and helped make our night special. Great food and vibe, including fellow patrons. We will be back!

Oh what a delight! Brunch Service was sooo warm and welcoming, timely and done with kindness and generosity of spirit. Our server Christopher was lovely. Food was incredible- I’m still processing all the surprising and complimentary flavors. Enjoyed the experience immensely. Definitely looking forward to returning.
