Bar Primi is a pasta shop devoted to ‘primi piatti,’ the pasta course. What began as an idea for a small space in New York’s East Village has since become a downtown New York staple, housed on the Bowery for the last ten years. With this second location in Penn District, chef-partner Andrew Carmellini will carry on his same tried and true methods of making fresh pasta traditionally prepared and cooked to order, using a variety of non-GMO semolina and specialty ‘00’ flours, organic eggs and family recipes. Italian wines are offered by the glass and by the bottle. A playful list of signature cocktails, which includes the original Frosé, aperitivi, a robust beer list, amari and coffee by La Colombe are also features.

I’ve been to the LES location and this is a completely different vibe. Much bigger and upscale. Beautiful space and nice menu. The service was a bit rushed but the food was very good with interesting menu. Great spot with a group or if you have an event at the Garden. The restaurant had a lively bar and the outdoor bar looks very cool. I would recommend.

We had an incredible experience! The service was exceptional, and our waiter Robert provided excellent recommendations. The food struck the perfect balance between sophistication and comfort. The ambiance was inspiring, romantic, and absolutely delightful. We’ll definitely be back and can’t wait to bring the rest of our family and friends!

One of the worst experiences. The host was rude and not wiling to help. I would never go back.

The hostess was rude when we told her we were going to be one more than what we reserved. She made a comment about how we would be tight at the table that was reserved. Meanwhile, the restaurant wasn’t even that busy. Our first waiter was great, but then he left for the day and the second one that came on had the personality of a wet mop. It was very clear that he did not want to wait on us. The food was delicious although not really worth the price. Our party made the best of our time there but we definitely will not be going back.

I had dinner there for my second time. I have always been a huge fan of Bar Primi on the Bowery and the new location does not disappoint. The setting is amazing and the food is incredible! Some of the best pasta you will ever have.

Too expensive, portions tiny, too loud, had to order entire order at once. The neighborhood needs this place and it is taking advantage of the clientele.

The food and atmosphere were all great! I just thought if I am paying $40 for a fish dish, it should come with something- anything!!! Otherwise a lovely evening!

Our waiter was fantastic. We had an allergy at the table and he went above and beyond to accommodate it. The food was fantastic, a great option before a game/show at MSG.
